With all the lost deer this season..........
 

here' s some good news.

A buddy of mine double lunged a nice buck yesterday. I think he said he went about 50 or 60 yards and went down in sight. He would have been an 8 point but one of his eye guards were broke off......not a massive rack but the deer was heavy.

I also have 2 friends that scored on 8 pointers and one who got a fork horn. Well one of the 8 pointers was really a 6 because the brow tine and g2 were broken off the right side. Went 195 field dressed 23 inch neck. He had a nice body.

It' s sorta funny how a lost deer thread gets pages of responses........but a thread about everything working out as it should gets very few..........

Do we want to read about only the crippled, wounded,suffering, I can' t find him, I hit him high, I stuck him in the shoulder, I don' t no where I hit him, getting eat by coyotes, deer.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm..........

A non-wounding thread just doesn' t generate as much action because no one needs to " help" the guy. Help...Hmm.

With all due respect, Is that what you really want to hear? We can make a new Rule requiring that only threads ending in a perfect hunt with a perfect double lunged shot and finding the animal expired 15 yards from the shot be posted?

Sounds pretty boring to me. This isnt a magazine, its a place to come to read about other bowhunters expieriences out in the field. Sadly to say, wounding is an ugly reality to Bowhunting and frankly I am tired of all the elitist attitudes expressed to those (Including myself) who have the courage to stand up and post a mistake. Could it be that maybe they could use a little advice? A little help from all the mighty omnipotent bowhunters on this forum who have never wounded a deer or lost an animal.

Thier is an ole saying that thier are three types of people in this world. People who never learn, people who learn from thier own mistakes, and people who learn from others mistakes. I tend to go with the latter phrase.

After reading about so many wounded deer not being found...........It' s nice to see some people do get it done right. Guess I' m into that kind of boring stuff.........

I think this is the 3rd year I' ve been on the site - 3rd deer season at least - and so far the the wounding/lost deer " chatter" seems to be about the same proportion as in past years. Not scientifically analyzed of course, but consider many likely do not post their misfortunes, so as not to be Beat Up on line.

While 99 of 100 would agree that we should all strive to make a clean kill, it seems people forget that arrow wounding occurs and some deer are even lost. Lets not sugar coat it - Lets work to educate others on arrow placement and tracking skills. I think its very fair to say though that a large proportion of wounded deer survive their wounding.

Most hunters that wound a deer and do not recover it feel bad enough, and learn from their mistakes, we don' t need to to beat them up here - just point out something that might be helpful next time.
