So I went out this AM and sneaked into that stand I hung after dark last night between the two scrape lines while it was raining. Along comes a doe... fine. Along comes a spike.... fine. Then along comes this really nice 6 pointer. Does a pose for me at 15 yards broadside and just temps me to shoot him. It took a lot of will power but I never raised the bow. These deer came from 3 different directions and met at my stand. They fed up on the hill above me for 20 minutes and wander over the hill. 10 minutes later they' re all back. Then the buck decides the doe needs to be chased. He takes off after her and runs her up into the thicket bedding area on the next ridge. The spike just eventually disappears. Len says he' s had enough. I look up and here comes another deer. A little 3 pointer. No big guys and the scrape lines haven' t been touched in a couple days at least. They' re full of leaves to the point you can' t see them anymore.[:' (] Maybe tomorrow.
I have another spot about 150 yards from there I want to try.

Reminds me of the 1.5 year old 8 pointer that came straight to my scent wick, then stood broadside while looking the other way for a good while yesterday...

Sorry the big one didn' t come out for you. I know how you feel. Wednesday evening I rattled out a fork horn 1 1/2 year old that wouldn' t go away. I had many many opportunities at him within 30 yards and never touched my bow. He hung around for 50 minutes. I had laid a doe in heat trail and he kept sniffing the air and looking around but wouldn' t leave. When I showed my hunting buddy the video he couldn' t believe I didn' t take a shot. I have no remorse he was just too young and small to be fooling with. Probably went about 140 pounds. I' m by no stretch of the imagination a trophy hunter but he was just a little too small for me.

Typical stinking trophy hunter
If I hadn' t already shot several deer and taken a buck I would have probably lowered the boom on this puppy. Heck, Len gave me trouble for shooting the buck a couple weeks ago. Then this AM he tells me to shoot a small doe if there' s one around.
I don' t really need any meat,... except my buddy from NY is coming by tomorrow to clean out my freezer and take the last two I shot. I' ll start filling it next week.[:-]
