Default coyote hunting 101

im just getting into coyote hunting. I have an electric decoy and electric caller which seem to be good tools. but how often can i actually call in a coyote? should i be in a stand for a long time, like with deer or should i be more moble? Should i use bait or lures? any advice would be appreciated.

With my very limited experience-mostly tagging along with experienced callers.

We stayed mobile. If we weren't getting something within a half hour we moved.

And we covered 5-10 sets a night this way.

Your best bet is get out there and learn and experience it yourself. I've often heard "if you miss a coyote you'll probably never see it again" shoot straight.

I generally stay on my calling stands anywhere from 30-45 minutes. If I get a response in one out of 4 stands I feel I have done well. Night hunting is not permitted for coyotes where I live, so all my calling is in the early AM or at dusk. I usually stop calling around 10AM unless a storm is moving in, then I will keep at it as the predators are out hunting before the storm. Be sure to watch the down wind approach, and stay still and camo'ed up. A cover scent is a good idea too, cause coyotes have noses second to none.
