Question: String Sting what am i doing wrong?
when shooting i' m getting stung on the holding forearm on release. only happpens every now and then not everytime... what am i doing wrong?
Is this normal and longsleeves will solve it or should i be doing something different? |
RE: Question: String Sting what am i doing wrong?
Make sure your bow is set for the correct draw length. If not it would/could slap your forearm.

I have found if you hold out your hand perpindicular to the ground and turn it about 25 degrees and grip the bow like this it will help.

Sounds like you are twisting your forearm in. concentrate on how you are holding your bow.

RE: Question: String Sting what am i doing wrong?
It could be draw length and or locking the arm you hold your bow with make sure your arm is slightly bent at the elbow

99 % of the time this is caused by having a bow with too long a draw length.

RE: Question: String Sting what am i doing wrong?
I' m 5' 7" with regular arm length. With my old bow, I drew 30" . With my new bow I' m now drawing 29" ....alot of people say I should be drawing 28" . I never had my forearm slapped. I shoot with my elbow locked. Only time that happened was when I shot my friend' s traditional stick bow...I didn' t know better....I had a completely open grip on the handle of the bow (the same way I hold my compound).
I think how a person grip the handle and if he/she cant the bow to the left (right had shooter) causes more arm slap. Just my .02 cents. |
RE: Question: String Sting what am i doing wrong?
How tall are you & what are your drawing?

RE: Question: String Sting what am i doing wrong?
if this is a problem that just started it is probably just your mechanics. I started doing this about a month ago and asked this same question here, my problem was simply how high I held my elbow. If I got lazy and held my elbow low " BAM" if I kept my elbow high everything was fine. Good luck
