We do have a load of deer here in PA. However, keep two things in mind before planning your trip:
1) a 100 class whitetail is truly considered a big buck in PA
2) each year it is reported that there are more hunters in the woods than deer on the gun opener
It' s definitely crowded. You' ll see as many orange coats as you will deer. Having said that, we have a lot of open gamelands that hardly get hunted because most PA folk are lazy and rarely leave the roadside to seek their quarry.
Good Luck!

Bigdog, my ground is surrounded by Rockview in Pleasant Gap! We have about 400 acres there we hunt. Yes, the Rockview ground is great, and we benefit from it tremendously. The big boys go in and out of our ground year round. We plant for deer and pull a lot from Rockview. I have to say, we have been seeing a few " Booner" bucks on our property and some in state penn land. Its as good as gets in PA.

What? WHAT? Deer in Pennsylvania................ nope, no way, not gonna happen, it isn' t even worth thinking about hunting here. Geez, a deer around here is about as common of an occurance as Rosie O Donnel passing up chocolate
STAY AWAY FROM PENNSYLVANIA, THERE ARE NO DEER HERE!!!!!!!!!

P.S. If you make a roadtrip here, I got more than enough areas to hunt
but you won' t see anything

The nicest area that I have driven through many times, is Route 15 going north from Harrisburg on up through Williamsport, and further on up to the NY Border to Corning and Route 17. That' s the way we go home to my wife' s family in Buffalo, NY.
A better area is Route 219, which I think goes up to Dubois, PA and up through Allegany.

I' ve been seeing alot of deer in Beaver and Allegheny county. Unfortunatly not many buck around my stand. I have only seen one legal (HUGE!) buck this season and one half-pint four pointer. The deer are here, you just got to find them.
