i read this article about new york hunters, said the average deer hunter was 42 and that something has to be done to get the youth involved in it or there will be mass slaughtering in future years! im 38 and started about 6 years ago so im helping i quess! makes you think of getting some of these urban troubled kids away from drugs and into nature and hunting and the laws of the land! i just hunted small game when i was young but i loved it! what are your thoughts and age!

I am 35, started hunting 5 years . I feel we really need to get more females into hunting. They will add to the ranks plus if they enjoy they will be more inclined to not argue when their man wants to go hunting.

i agree, but not mine! she doesnt get it at all, i cant tell here when a deer is in the shed, but ive benn working on her for 15 years, she actually ate the wild turkey soup i made and loved it!

33 right now, been hunting for 21 years now.

i have been the youngest or one of the youngest guys in our camp for pretty much all those years. there are 3 other guys about my age in the group.

Im 16 and I started 2 seasons ago.
My dad never hunted, he has always been into cars and they have always been his passion. Ever since he was a kid. I have been into cars and stuff my whole life as well but not as much as him. I wasnt one of the " normal" kids who got up on Saturday morning and watched cartoons. I got up and watched TNN and Bill Dance was my hero lol. I have fished since I was 2 and got an interest in hunting about 5-6 years ago, just never had anyone to take me. After I found someone, I have absolutely LIVED for hunting.
Growing up in a small town around farms, and being surrounded by other small town with the same, I guess I didnt realize that not only the average was so high but that there is such a need to get more youth involved because most of the kids at school and the most of the kids that I know from other schools hunt. So, this all comes as a suprise to me.

I' m 17 and I hunt anything that is in season. It is one of my favorite things to do. I have killed 7 deer with my bow in my 3 years of bowhunting (which is by far my favorite). I have a younger and a older brother that hunt and my dad also hunts. I have many friends in school who hunt. THere is nothing like having a successful hunt and being able to share the hunt w/ friends and family. My mom is not a hunter but she loves to come out and track deer with us and see what we kill she just can' t do the killing.

yeah deerhunter thats young and good but im sure you are rural, in nyc theres 15 million people and 10 bowhunters!

well im 36 but hunted for at least 25 yrs my wife she just likes to hunt small game but trying to get her to hunt deer

i quess so far we are young but maybe the old timers dont have a computer! ill throw in old eddie the taxidermist, 72 and still uses a climber and shot a button the other day!

I' m 35 and have been hunting since I was 12. I' ve bowhunted for 5 years and there' s a real good chance that I will never pick up a gun to harvest a deer, again. My wife? Ha. I have a better chance of seeing our maker, than her hunting. Now, my 7 year old daughter, she will hopefully hunt someday. She shows some interest and she loves to shoot her bow. Cutt

I am 28 and have been hunting for 16yrs now. Hunting keept me out of a lot of trouble when I was younger!!

I' m 29 and I' ve been hunting since I was 12. I started going out with my grandfather when I was 8. I' d sit on stand with him and he' d teach me from his experiences.

I' m 17, this is my 6th year in the woods. I' ve killed 6 deer with archery tackle. I' ve taken 7 other deer in rifle season.

I' ve been a " hunter" ever since I was 3. My Dad used to carry me in a backpack and go grouse and rabbit hunting. He' d almost always sacrifice his chances of success to take me along as I was growing up. He' s still my favorite hunting partner and best friend. I' ve learned more about the woods from him than any book or magazine could' ve ever taught me.

I' m 45 and have been hunting since age 12. Before that I would be " the dog" and kick rooster phesants and rabbits out for my Dad and older brother. I love being in my stand bow hunting, although also love walking the big woods with my 7 mag in hand during rifle season.

Here in Wisconsin they have a " youth hunt" which is statewide this coming Saturday. Kids 12-15 years can hunt for does only under appropriate supervision with rifles/shotguns. Only the youth can hunt. I' ll be bow hunting, but on Saturday I have to wear blaze orange during this one day hunt. Many people don' t like this hunt because it' s getting prime time rut, and to a point I agree. They could have had it at an earlier time than now, although it is a good way to show the kids what they can look forward to when they get of age and can hunt a real " season" .

31, huting since i was 12. only shot 2 deer ever. cali sucks for hunting. anywho, why is there so much complaining about populated woods if the hunting population is gong down? do you think its because the yunger hunters are used to instant gratification that technology has brought about? think about that.......

Im 15, neaither of my parents hunt, however my dad does loves to fish. I' ve been hunting for 3 years now. My first year i only hunted small game, second year a family freind took my deerhunting in the shotgun season and i bagged a small 7 point. Last year i got into bow hunting so i didnt go gun hunting(but i never did get that deer) but this year,since it is the last year before i can harvest a doe(i turn 16 the day after gun season ends) i am going to go shotgun hunting again. and i have 12 freinds at my school of 400 that hunt as well.

Im 37 and started 7 years ago. i have gotten 2 guys into bow hunting (1 quit though:() and just turned my brother on to shot gunning. my son is 8 and goes shooting with me. next year i will start him off with the illinois youth dove hunt

im 20, and have been hunting since i was 10. i live for this stuff. hunting is my life, other than my schooling right now. i hunt every morning before class. i have 2 buddies my age that live and breathe bowhunting too!

Out of trouble on the streets. In trouble with the teachers when opening day rolls around.;)

Im 19. Started at 12. Dad got me hunting. Im now better than him. I have tought myself everything I know about deer and turkey. Got myself archery hunting, which is the best thing there is. Got to love the simple sentences.;)

I' ve been huntin hard since I was about 14...would go every once in awhile before that squirrel huntin or whatever...

A lot of my friends hunt...I' d think that maybe down south the age is different, because hunting is more widespread then it would be in New York, nonetheless...if any young guys want to go huntin with me, I' ll take em, I love to see new people get introduced to the sport of hunting...whether old or young...

I' m in the process of trying to get my girlfriend to go with me right at this moment...

I' m 47, got my first bow in March 2003 and got hooked up for life, I shot local league and 3D all summer with some succsess. I' ve been " hunting" all kinds of wildlife with my camera for 4 years now.
Heck, I' m too young to be that old[8D]
