Default doe population 38 vs 4 bucks.

i have this one farm i hunt that is over populated with does to many stinkin does.i no how many does there is on this farm by the many sightings i see. about everytime i go out there i see to 8 does a day, at diffirent parts of the farm that i hunt. i have seen only 4 bucks. 2 shooters and the rest are young bucks.
on your hunting grounds do you have this problem. the owner of this farm that i hunt shoots does when he is on the tractor. just to get rid of the doe population.

go deep hunt hard.

doe pop here, from what ive seen, is about 20 to 2, and ive been out there a lot so ive seen most of em. a 4 point, and maybe a 5-6 point and then a ton of small does and yearlings. its right on the edge of town so its not been hunted much.

the buck doe ratio on my favorite farm is prob about 3 or 4 to 1. It is very good compaired to the other farms in my area. I have been to a couple farms where it would be just like what your pouplation is bobcat where the buck doe ratio would be like 10 to 1. Makes hunting the rut a little more challenging. Good luck.

Good topic,in south jersey where I live, the Buck to Doe ratio is way out of wack.
This is why I beleive the only Buck attractor that works are the scents, rattling &
grunting are a waste.
Did a lot of hunting in Virginia, and the ratio there was a lot better. The Doe harvest is high there.
Guess we gotta shoot more Baldies.

That' s why the guys in my club enjoy bowseason. No limitations on lesser deer. If the choise is available between taking a doe or a 6point we all take the doe. I' ve taken 2 slickheads already... good eating!!

Sounds to me like you' re hunting in southern Maine with me! I' ve seen two bucks so far this year. A little forkhorn and nice shooter that never came into range. I' ve seen so may does that I' ve stopped counting. The funny part of this is alot of those doe look to be more that 2-3 years old.
The state of Maine has a lottery for doe permits but allow the shooting of bucks all through out the season. Apparently they don' t want to get rid of these doe. I don' t mind watching the does because the more time they' re in view I' ve got an opportunity to learn from watching them but it sure dose make calling in buck difficult.
I guess I' m trying to say I can relate. I' m about sick of watching hunting videos where a little rattle and a gunt or two gives you pick of the litter. It' s not so easy in So.Me.

I have been setting my game camera out on this WMA since last January and have over a hundred pics of does and ONE small spike. This is a buck only area except during the bow season. I think the ratio is probally 30-1 does to bucks.
They call these wildlife management areas but they dont do a very good job managing the wildlife.

In my areas, the ratios are WAY outta whack too--probably about 25+ to 1. Even with such a high doe ratio, the only ones that keep wandering into range for me are the dink bucks. Since I already used my first buck tag, I have to shoot 2 does before I can use my second buck tag. Sounds easy, but it' s not working out that way.[X(]

I hear everyone' s frustration, but look at the bright side: the rut is not is full force yet. The people with scouting cameras can verify, just because you dont see them in daylight, doesnt mean they are not there. I think you ratio may change a bit later in November...good luck.
