Default Is hunting safety education required for bow hunting?

I live in Missouri. This will be my first season hunting. I will only be bow hunting, no rifle or other firearms. I can only find limited information on the requirements and am getting conflicting answers from other people. Thank you in advance!

It's not required in your state. First off though, how old are you? If you have no experience hunting, then a bow hunters safety course would be highly educational for you. And you might end up with a hunting buddy from the class! Win Win in my book.

While it is not required by statewide game regulations, many cities that allow archery hunting inside their city limits require bowhunter-education certification to participate.

also, the best and MOST accurate info you will, get is RIGHT from your states game dept
why take info(and not saying folks here don't know)
but why risk issue's when the correct answer is just a phone call away to your game dept?
I have had many conversations with wardens in MO, and every one was nothing but a pleasant experience to date!
also keep in mind many times archery seasons overlap with gun season or small game seasons where shotguns are used(and or muzzleloaders
so knowing gin info can only benefit you in the field!

in some states archery hunting still requires a course be taken( NY for an example)

In OH yes, it is. Looks like in your state it isn't. If you're new and have no one else to teach you it would def. help out though. Allot can be learned in these courses and the instructors are typically experienced and passionate hunters.

You should probably check with your state's regulations or wildlife department.

Also, just to be clear: do you mean the regular hunter education course, or the bowhunter education course? My state offers both, but you're only required to take the regular course to be able to bowhunt. Now, some states do in fact also require that you take the bowhunter education course in order to bowhunt.

Final thought, I strongly support super_hunt54's suggestion.

I believe if Your born after 1967 Your required to take a Hunters Safety Course in order to be Rifle/Gun Hunting....if You are mentoring or taking a Youth Hunting then it's required to take the Hunters Safety Course if You were born before 1967.

When I took my Daughters out for the Youth Deer Season I was required to take the Hunters Safety Course...they were also giving the Bow Hunters Safety Course which wasn't required for Us here in Missouri but the Instructor mentioned some day it might be required and was required in several other States outside of Missouri and if We ever wanted to Bow Hunt in Illinios or Elk Hunt in another State most States require a Hunter to have t as Ken the Bow Hunter Safety Course.

You can also go to www.missourowhitetails.com and ask a Game Warden the question to get a for sure answer...heck I might go ask it for You to see what the correct answer is?
