Has anyone seen any deer? I Bow Hunt in the north shore, and I haven' t seen any deer. I found some rubs and few scrapes set up on the down wind side. I kept the wind in my face when entering and exiting these locations. Still no sightings!
Has anyone else noticed a lack of movement by deer in the area?
I heard of the supposed October lull, is there any truth to it?

I think, the end of this week going into next week should be pretty good activity.
The october lull, well i think there is some truth to it, but i think it is more on weather conditions and moon phases.
I have plenty of acorns in my areas in central mass. the deer don' t have to move far to feed, so setup is critical.
Good luck

Lazer-
I also live and hunt in MA.. was out bird hunting this last weekend and saw more daytime deer movement than I have in awhile. Glassed a few of my areas on the way to work and I' ve been seeing deer as have some friends .. who also hunt the North Shore. My thoughts are to try finding multiple to places to hunt ... if you are in just 1 spot you may be burning it out.
Don' t sweat it yet .. it is early... and there are definitely deer around!

I hunted last Monday morning and eve and Tuesday morn (first two days of season) without seeing any deer. Hunted again Sat. evening, saw three does one hour before dusk. On Monday, this week, just as I unnocked my arrow and began to tie my bow to my haul line at approx. 8:15 a.m., I saw a deer moving behind some brush, 15-20 yds away (it was a quiet morning and I could not believe I had not heard its approach). It turned out to be a 5 pt. that dressed out at 126 lbs. I hunt around Boxford/Middleton/Andover. If you remember, Monday and Saturday were the first days that approached the freezing mark, also, the full moon is no longer lighting the night.
Haven' t been out since, but pretty optimistic for tomorrow a.m.
Good luck.

Lazer,
I didn' t see much movement the first few days of the season, however Thurs-Sat (16-18) I saw a good number of deer in late afternoon in fields, and on Saturday afternoon I took a decent buck (SE Mass) The moon position times were perfect those three days, coincidence?, not sure but I' m liking the activity I' ve been seeing lately with the moon positions above and below during morning and afternoon hunts.
Next week it looks as though the positions will be good again, I' m planning on coming in work late or skipping out early and we' ll see how it goes.
But as Jay said, it' s still early man, still early in the season.-

I only hunted this spot two times! There are Acorns every where though!
I will probably have to adjust my stands to get closer to bedding cover!
On the days I hunted, the wind was blowing between 20- 30 mph.
I know that will hault some movement.
I going to hunt on this upcoming friday AM, and Saturday all day.
Do you think I should sacrafice a day of hunting and do some intrusive scouting?
I' ve always seen deer in the area I hunt in the past!
