Default Ground Blind Recommendations

I'm in Utah and want to use a ground blind, but I don't know what to use and nobody I've hunted with has any recommendations.

Anyhow, I'm a big guy - 6'4, and want to use for either bow or rifle (not cheating there).

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the board...My hunting partner and I had good luck with our Double Bull blinds out west(Arizona) this past month. As for the blind, best quality blind on the market,I think most will agree. It is large, easy to put up/take down and holds up well in bad weather. We both have the GH500 blinds(I think it is called the Titan 5 now) with the Deception pattern, black interior, and shoot-thru netting for the windows.

As far as the set up we had...the last couple of years we had trouble with deer(mule deer and coues deer) picking our blind out right away, even though we had brushed it in with limbs and deadfalls. We ended up buying some 12'x12' sections of camo netting from an army surplus store to try this year. After throwing the netting over the blinds we took some sticks, leaves, and limbs from the surrounding area and stuck them in the netting to breakup the outline even more. In 11 days of hunting only one whitetail doe picked up on the strange &quot;blob&quot; on the edge of the waterhole. I even had a cow come up and try to eat the synthetic leaves off the roof of my blind<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>!

Hope this helps out, good luck!

TB

Elk, I like to hunt whitetails out of a ground blind. I've killed several this way. I like to use natural materials to build the blind...such as pine or spruce branches. These really cover up a person's outline and help eliminate scent.

Just don't make a blind look too obvious. I think that's the key.

The Ameristep Penthouse has more room then
the double bull blind sets up and takes down
faster and is less expenisive then the other
plus is more compact to carry, to each his
own I guess, just my opnion Ive had both.

I would go with the dubble bull the black interior is a must for deer and the shoot through screens are great.

I agree..natural all the way! First being money, second being conditioning animals to it. Out of place objects will put the critters on alert more often then not....trying to take a shot on an alert animal is like walking on egg shells!

I used a Double Bull this year and had great results. I had several deer within 10 yards that had no idea I was there even after alot of movement inside. They are pretty easy to carry and a snap to set up.

I've hunted out of a number of blinds thru the years and the Double Bull T5 Prostaff I bought this past season is by far the sweetest set up I have ever owned. Sounds lke ya better check out the T5. The T2 will save ya a little weight if you don't mind a slightly smaller shooting area and a shoot thru mesh front.Give 'em a try
