I'm currently out of work, so for the past three weeks i've been sitting in the tree stand on public land. During all that time I have only seen three deer, it was a mommy deer and two baby deer early one morning that came in down wind in the brush
. Its amazing all that time in the woods, and i have seen NO DEER. The deer are around, plenty of tracks and scat and a few good rub lines. I hunted all the trails, I hunted the trails near the bedding areas hoping to catch them walk out in the early evening. It hasnt been a waste of time, i have learned alot. The deer dont have much of a pattern anymore like they did in early season. It isnt the simple "they bed here, travel this trail, and feed here" type scenario like it was a month ago. Now the deer are all over the place-feeding and bedding in different areas. The deer only come out at night. The does can been seen during the day sometimes, but mostly at night. You can forget about seeing a buck in the daytime right now. I've got the bucks some-what patterned but like I said....they come out at night and only start moving after dark. I'm going to stay away from the area until the rut starts in a few weeks, maybe them bucks will come out at daytime. Anybody else having this problem?
