A piece of electrical tape over the light should do the trick.

It's red, deer wouldn't see it anyway. That's out of their visible light spectrum.

The deer may not see it as red but a bright flashing light on a dark background isn't an item I would want to gamble on. I put tape over mine!

Uh, if it is out of their visible light spectrum (that means they can't detect the light because of the color) then they won't see a bright flashing anything against a dark backdrop because they literally can not see red light. Same reason hogs don't spook at red or green lights. Because they can't see them.

I just got the Hero+ LCD, used it for some other activities. Plan to rig it up to my bow or use the headstrap this year too. Hopefully I can post a success video.

The following article states what I have been reading since the 60's
http://outdoorchannel.com/article.as...letype=article
They see something but not what we see, since we can't ask them I will not take the chance. Yes I will walk into the woods with a red light since the best studies show it is less obtrusive but I won't turn the light on and flash it at them before I take a shot. All a matter of choice when a little piece of tape removes any uncertainty. IMHO

You can turn off the lights and sounds in the menu of a GoPro.
