RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
summit.......summit............summit!!!! I have had many stands, the summit is so comfortable that I find myself falling asleep in it! My summit is quiet up the tree and solid once I reach my desired height. The summit climbers are well worth the investment!

Ol' Man Vision is great.

All of the stands listed are of good quality. I' ve only used API and Summit. I love my Summit! I think Lone Wolf makes a great stand by the looks of it and the reviews it gets too.
I would try to get one that has no parts to drop or get lost. Also get one that appears to be easy to keep quiet, and looks easy to set up. Like I said, I like my Summit a lot. I also think Ol Man, Lone Wolf, and possibly API would be worth looking at as well. peashooter |

I like my Summit also, I use that for bowhunting and I use a Gunslinger stand for rifle hunting.
The Gunslinger is a little heavier but the comfort is out of this world! It is like a Tree Lounge but it faces the tree. |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
Thank you all very much. All of this advice gives me much more focus on where to start looking. As I said, I' ve been hunting from ground for the past 2 years so I welcome the change to higher altitude. Also, from what I' ve heard it' s harder to be caught by deer when your above. Can' t wait to go try some out. Agan, thanks for the advice.

ORIGINAL: allbow What is the best type for bow hunting. It seems many are made specificly for using rifles. Which stands have you been looking at ? Keep in mind there are basically 2 types of climbers. The hand climbers are usually more compact and lighter but really put your upper body to work. The sit and climb models are usually larger and heavier but have the rail that you sit on and pull your feet up. IMO this is the easiest way to go. The rail can be a challenge to get used to though. It makes it hard for shots sitting down but really isn' t much of an issue when standing since it' s about knee high. Unless you' re shooting straight down. Regardless of your choice I' d strongly recommend using it a few times and practicing from it to get used to the feel. After about your 4th or 5th time you' ll start getting a good feel for it. For what it' s worth I use an API Grand Slam Super Mag Supreme tree stand. I' ve not been disappointed. It' s quiet, quick to setup, and rock solid. I enjoy the generous sized seat and high back seat cushion. Very comfortable IMO. |
