What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I' ve been ground hunting for the past 2 years. I' ve enjoyed it a great deal but my friend has told me I would have even more success from using a tree stand. What is the best type for bow hunting. It seems many are made specificly for using rifles.

chalk one up for SUMMIT!!!!! Try them all out. Save Summit for last. You' ll kick yourself for looking for so long, but you' ll realize why they are the best. Big or small people, there is stand there for you!!!!!

RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
There are several good climbers on the market these days, but do yourself a favor and get one of the top brands.....safety should come before comfort. Most here favor Summit, Ol Man, Big Buck, Lone Wolf, API, Warren & Sweat, Loggy Bayou among others.
Mine is the Lone Wolf sit-n-climb....easy to use, none is quieter, made with quality.;) |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
The API with the convertible foot rest/shooting rail. I forget what the exact model is, but it' s great for bow and very comfortable and quiet. Excellent treestand. I' ve tried most of the others.

RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
Lone wolf sit and climb here. It is quiet and simple to hook to the tree. The only complaint I have is when you step out of the sitting rail it is a tight fit. I have a size 13 boot and there is barely enough room to get my feet out, you have to be VERY CAREFUL. Wouldn' t be much of an issue if you were smaller.

RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I think most hunters have only used a couple different stands that are comparable to each other. They buy a stand and then use it a couple seasons and buy another. You need a review from someone who has used new stands from each maker in the same season. Myself, I love my Summit Viper. But here' s the catch;
The 1st season I bowhunted off the ground. 2nd-4th seasons I hunted out of homemade climbers(never do this!!) 5th-9th seasons I used a Warren and Sweat Osage climber. Heavy, loud and uncomfortable. Last season I bought a Summit and cursed myself for not buying one sooner. I' m sure I' d be saying the same thing about some other stands right now if I had bought them instead of the Summit just because of the comparison to what I was used to hunting out of. Hope this helps |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
SUMMIT VIPER IS THE BEST STAND YOU CAN GET LOVE MY VIPER.
GO DEEP HUNT HARD.;) |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
summits are the best there lite and comfortable and they never make noise so go and get a summit
|
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
summit.......summit............summit!!!! I have had many stands, the summit is so comfortable that I find myself falling asleep in it! My summit is quiet up the tree and solid once I reach my desired height. The summit climbers are well worth the investment!

RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
Ol' Man Vision is great.
|
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
All of the stands listed are of good quality. I' ve only used API and Summit. I love my Summit! I think Lone Wolf makes a great stand by the looks of it and the reviews it gets too.
I would try to get one that has no parts to drop or get lost. Also get one that appears to be easy to keep quiet, and looks easy to set up. Like I said, I like my Summit a lot. I also think Ol Man, Lone Wolf, and possibly API would be worth looking at as well. peashooter |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I like my Summit also, I use that for bowhunting and I use a Gunslinger stand for rifle hunting.
The Gunslinger is a little heavier but the comfort is out of this world! It is like a Tree Lounge but it faces the tree. |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
Thank you all very much. All of this advice gives me much more focus on where to start looking. As I said, I' ve been hunting from ground for the past 2 years so I welcome the change to higher altitude. Also, from what I' ve heard it' s harder to be caught by deer when your above. Can' t wait to go try some out. Agan, thanks for the advice.

ORIGINAL: allbow What is the best type for bow hunting. It seems many are made specificly for using rifles. Which stands have you been looking at ? Keep in mind there are basically 2 types of climbers. The hand climbers are usually more compact and lighter but really put your upper body to work. The sit and climb models are usually larger and heavier but have the rail that you sit on and pull your feet up. IMO this is the easiest way to go. The rail can be a challenge to get used to though. It makes it hard for shots sitting down but really isn' t much of an issue when standing since it' s about knee high. Unless you' re shooting straight down. Regardless of your choice I' d strongly recommend using it a few times and practicing from it to get used to the feel. After about your 4th or 5th time you' ll start getting a good feel for it. For what it' s worth I use an API Grand Slam Super Mag Supreme tree stand. I' ve not been disappointed. It' s quiet, quick to setup, and rock solid. I enjoy the generous sized seat and high back seat cushion. Very comfortable IMO. |

Summit stands are hard to beat.
|
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
if you plan to hunt hard all day the TREE LOUNGE is a good choice. its got great accesories and the newer lighter version is better on the back altrhough i also have the older version and use the wheels that attach to it. good luck deciding you have a difficult task.

RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I' ve tried the summit and the lone wolf and went with the lone wolf. I liked them both, but the lone wolf was quieter set-up and packed to a small couple of inches thick.
|
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
Well for me it' s a Summit. I spent a lot of time in my goliath Saturday and it is by far the easiest, quietest, most comfortable and stable climbing stand I have every used. I actually fell asleep for a while, when I woke up to the sound of a buck grunting, then I realized the " buck" was me snoring! LOL[:o]:D I can get my summits setup and climbing in no time, and once at hunting level I can spend hours in complete comfort. I know you will like any of the Summit stands, and you won' t find better customer service anywhere.

RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I have been hunting since the early 80' s and most of that time was spent in trees. I now use the Summit Cobra XLS. It has an open front design, which is perfect for bowhunters. It weighs in at a mere 17 pounds, and has thick cushions for a very comfortable time in the tree.
www.summitstands.com is summits website. go check them out! |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I have a API Bowhunter and a Lone Wolf Climber and my hands down favorite is the API. It climbs very easy and is very comfortable. The Lone Wolf packs and climbs nice but the seat is terrible, if they could come up with a better seat this stand would be really hard to beat but until then my API is my favorite.
Someone mentioned the hand climbers being hard on the upper body. I do not agree with that, If used properly all of the climbing is done with the legs not the upper body. I just use the hand climber to hold onto and then bring my legs up so the legs do all of the work. Just my 2 cents worth, Have a great day! :) |
RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I have used several Warren and Sweat hang-on models in the past but eventually went to an API Bowhunter climber model about 5 or 6 years ago. I have been very happy with its performance and overall construction.
However, with all the positive things that have said about Summit over the years I thought it was a good idea to eventually try one of them as well. This past summer I had that opportunity and now own a Summit Revolution that I am very excited about. The comfort level is a little higher on the Revolution in comparison to the Bowhunter however, I thought the Bowhunter model was a somewhat quieter stand. Both models were extremely easy to use and seem to be very well put together. Hopet this helps. |

Love my Summit Goliath!

RE: What is the best climbing tree stand avalible.
I tried alot and borrowed some friends to check them out too. Man, do yourself a favor and combine comfort and safety and get yourself a tree lounge. You will end up useing it for all your hunting seasons. Heck I even use it just to get away from the wife when I go napping, I mean scouting, preseason. LOL Seriously, it' s the only stand I' ve ever used where you put your safety harness on before you step up into the stand. Now go start testing.:D
