1) false - its diminishing light of day that trips the rut, although warm weather will cut back on the deer moving. Does will come into estrus about the same time every year.
2)Overhanging branch / licking branch. They prefer cedars in my area.

1. Here in Florida it's just the opposite. Warm weather signals spring break and there's alot of rutting activity when the bikinis hit the beach.
2. Under sunlight or moonlight, wherever there are the most bikinis.
Wait a minute, was the subject about humans or deer?

Hey stealthy,
I agree with you. Warm weather may reduce buck movement or turn it more nocturnal but the does are in heat about the same time every year. I am a photoperiod believer<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
Under my best stands for question two.

False, I believe the rut is triggered by photoperiodism. This is the time of light per day which I believe triggers a gland in the deers body which starts releasing pheramones in the does body and an increase in the testosterone levels in the bucks.
