Well I have a couple of questions. Today I was hunting in my summit and I had a few does come in from the totally opposite side they were supposed to. Well they winded me and that was right about prime time. I thought maybe I should stand up so if more deer come that way then I can shoot that way. Well I decided not to because when I stand I like to stand right at the base of the stand and lean against the tree. I was wondering if this would make my summit slip? Well guess what I didn' t stand and another deer came at dark. It was the HUGEST buck I have ever seen let alone hoped it would come in front of me. Well I could not draw in that direction because I was sitting not standing. I would like to know if how you guys stand in your summits and where you put the seat so you don' t bump it. Mine still slides down a little if I bump it even w/the strap on it.

On a side note I was wondering if you guys think big bucks get big because they have expierience or do you think they were smarter all their life and thats why they got so big.

i dont have a summit but i was in my ole man climber this morning and i kinda resituated a little and found myself sliding down the tree. Real hard bark, i slid about 10 inches down, woke me up.

Learn to shoot sitting down,aint no fun sliding down a tree tearing off your skin. Gee you could of had a doe and a huge buck

if your stand is level it shouldn' t slip , i' ve never heaard of a summit slipping , it also won' t hurt to learn to shoot sitting down .

I don' t know that much about climbers yet but we bought two of them this year and I haven' t slid down the tree yet but have almost lost the bottom part of my stand...luckily I had the two pieces tied together. I think your problem might be solved by just repositioning your stand in the treeand learning to shoot sitting down. I had to do reposition mine last night and it was fairly easy and quiet. Hope this might help.

From what it sounds to me he shoots sitting, but only to his left(assuming right handed). Deer came from his right nad he couldn' t stand. Stand up, and shoot them man. If you are too afraid of getting away from tehetrunk of the tree, then go lower or use a ground blind. If I' m off then nevermind.

I put my feet close to the tree when I stand - but not right against the tree. You can leave your feet in the middle and lean into the tree a bit. You need to be out on the stand to shoot out the right side anyway.

I have never had my Summit slip.

If the seat strap is tight the seat should not slip when you push into it to scrunch the seat pad up to give yourself room.

If they come on the right side you have to get up and stand or just watch em walk by

I use an API and stand a good portion of the time. Just keep your feet in the center of the lower platform and lean back against the tree. By standing during the prime hunting time you help break up your outline a litte more and it removes the movement of staning up when a possible shoot situation presents itself.

I hunted from my son' s viper yesterday and I can' t shoot from a sitting position. The top part your sitting in gets in the way.

Anyway, I stood up for a while with my back against the tree..........no slipping.

I can shoot sitting down just not directly to my right. It would have been physically impossible to shoot that buck sitting in my position. Thanks for the advice I will stand from now on and just make sure that green strap is real tight. I was thinking about standing when I saw the buck but I did not want to spook this buck. I ended up trying to draw (which is how i found out it was impossible) and this akward position made my arrow fall of an the buck looked up and spooked! So I learned a couple of leasons and just wanted to make sure I could stand up w/o slipping even if close to the tree.

One more thing one thing I hate about standing is the fact that you have to hold your bow. Where do you put it?
