Just curious how long everyone waits to get out of their stand after evening hunts when the deer are everywhere under you. Keep in mind it is now dark and after legal shooting hours. I sat at least 30-40 min before i finally said I really have to go. There were prob. 7-8 deer (all doe from what i could gather, was dark though} I heard a few of them carry on towards the feild outside the timber but their was still a couple straglers. I know sooner or later those straglers would move on but who is to say it wouldn' t be another 20-30 min. I had to go.
When you guys get in situations like this what do you do? I hate to get busted by them deer. Good thing was that only 1 deer blew at me and ran the other way.

Take a stick in the stand with you. As a last resort drop it or throw it in their direction to make them leave. They won' t associate it with a human, unless they smell your scent on it.

Bark like a dog. or take your rattlin antlers and tear up the tree your in. just make enough noise to get them going in the other direction. Deer see better than humans in the dark, but not good enough to make you out up in your stand.

I' ve tried snapping my fingers, clucking my tongue against my cheek and any unnatural sound which isn' t distinctly human. It seems that they often lose their fear at this point and sometimes even approach the sound.

I have taken the batteries out of my mag lite, and used them before.Only thing is you have to just about hit the deer with them before they decide to get the heck out of there.[

Yeah, I' ll throw stuff at them too. My flashlight, release, I' ve even dropped arrows before (just to make noise, not trying to harm them). The first sound or two they don' t mind but when there are a bunch of noises they can' t identify they' ll leave.
