Idiot Poached My Spot

Well Some nitwit set a ladder stand up next to my ground blind.I have had my blind there for a month. I dont know what to do. It is private property and he does have permission to hunt there. I have other set ups I can go to on the opener on saturday. Either I go and keep him company and mess up both are chances or back down and use one of my other spots. I can hunt everyday,he probably has to work during the week. Plus usually after the first week most of the hunters around here slow down.I have 5 weeks in bow. Im going to probably leave a message on my blind. " This ground blind was set up 1 month before you set up your ladder stand.Maybe you are blind and didn' t see it. No sense messing up my day.I will be a sportsman and sit in one of my other locations today, but will return. Dont know what you were thinking???? Good luck and please dont shoot the buttons or baby does. Naraganga negative on you,Cardeer. " What would you do??????

I would probably handle it in a similar way. Then guy who moved in on you is a turd, but no sense ruining your hunt on Saturday. I have left notes in the woods in the past for my " neighbors" explaining to them that bowhunting is not a team sport. For the most part, the not so subtle hint' s have been taken. Good luck!!

Try leaving a note like this on his ladder stand:
Hey stranger! I' m so glad to see someone else will be out here hunting with me. I hunt every day of the season and it gets awfull lonely seeing as the only one I have to talk to when I' m hunting is my black lab. Anyway, I look forward to meeting you and having lengthy conversations while we hunt!
P.S. Now that I know I' ll have company I' ll bring along a couple extra summer sausage sandwiches and an extra 6 pack of Rolling Rock!

;)

That' s good!

I would prolly handle it the same way you mentioned. Is there is a chance he/she didn' t see your ground blind? I would always be polite about it at first. If that doesn' t work, move on to other means :) I would just hunt another spot opening day. Don' t let that ruin your day.

I would do as you say you are doing, then after the mornings hunt I would walk by and say hi.
then if that doesn' t work I would have a good talk with himand explzin things.if that didn' t work we would hunt side by side and talke all the while, then he would get the hint.
as you say you can hunt every day,and him only on weekends,so if his only days are spoiled he will move on.;)

Good luck on settleing the problem.hope you get a big one.

Being the type of person who doesnt like confrontations idd probly move on. At least hunt it during the weekdays when he OR she is most likely to be working.

If you don' t hunt your blind, at least leave some dirty underware in it or up wind from it.
good luck!

Almost the same thing happened to me on private property 5 years ago on land I had hunted for many years. Seems some guys got permission and set a treestand only 10 yards from mine(which was up already). Nevertheless I let him have the spot. I didn' t figure it was worth hunting if we both would leave that much scent around. As it turned out I am glad I did, the newbies rode ATV' s up to their stands, scouted the woods before getting into their stands every time and besides.......I had it better across the farmer' s lane.

I' d handle it in a similar way. I would' nt be so blunt!!!!! Don' t act like a jerk in your letter. I would leave a note and ask the guy to give you a call. You should be able to work things out with him. Find out when he hunts.

CD,,,The land owner should have his tel#. Try calling him and explaining you were there first. If he is a good guy he' ll move.
