hek, man i would move my blind to another spot. hunt his stand when he' s not around. get the best of both worlds. now you would have 2 spots to hunt.

I feel for ya cardeer, what I' d do would be to get into your stand very early before him. Then if you do see him, talk to him and explain that you have been there for a while before he set up his stand. He may have made an honest mistake and there is a chance that he is a decent guy. A face to face chat has always worked better for me then a telephone call.

A note or passing by opening morning would be the best thing to do.
If anything it could work out for you, if he doesn' t hunt on a regular basis you
could make good use of his stand.

Good luck.

Cardeer, I enjoy reading your posts and I know you don' t need any advice from the board about what to do.;) We' ll be waiting on the outcome anxiously.:D But as arkansasbowhunter said 2 spots are better than 1. Though every one had good advice if you can' t make it work fix him, I mean it not him.;)

Ouch that stinks! I hate confrontations. There are idiots all over the place. Probably no chance to talk to the guy before the opener either. Is that the blind where you said there was a big brute of a deer that had left tons of sign? I would hunt it on Saturday first thing. Too much time scouting and setting up to have some jerk ruin it. I would try bribing him with a cardeer necklace but a bit of a curse on it might fix his wagon.

Problem is if he is that inconsiderate maybe you should switch locations anyway. If he is that sloppy about stand placement probably isn' t that worried about scent either and that is a sure way to have that spot go cold in a hurry.

No that is not the spot where the sign of a big buck was found. I was saving that spot for closer to the rut. The big buck spot is at a weird location and I noticed no interference from any other hunters. I have 7 more spots prepared I will just go to one of them. I was back today to deliver the letter, which is not nasty . And I seen another stand 40 yards from the other stand. They can have the spot and kiss each others butt all day. I just might go to the big buck spot . Maybe it is just what I' m suppose to do.

If both of you have permission from the landowner to hunt there then I would go have a nice talk with the landowner. I would thank the owner again for letting you hunt there and then explain that you went out and scouted and set of a blind a month ago and now this other person put his stand right on top of you. Hopefully the owner will talk to this person. I had a simular incident a couple of years ago and thats what I did. The other guy gave the owner an attitude like too bad for me so now that person has been evicted from the property.

CD,
Had a similar experience few years back. Only the other guy put up the stand right before opening day. He arrived 30 minutes after sunup rode up on a four wheeler and talked with his buddy for about 10 minutes while drinking coffee. Then the buddy rode off on the 4x. Guy sat on the stand and chain smoked.

After about 5 minutes I got up and left. Long story short I killed a very nice deer that stumbled onto this guy and was running away spooked. Better lucky than smart anytime.

Cannot blame you for moving and its the best thing. Stop by the local barber or beauty shop. get a trash bag full of cut hair. ;) spread it around both stands. then go to your big buck stand.:D

Seriously I know you will take the high road.

Hey Cardeer, use it to your advantage. If their that close together(40 yards), chances are their novices or might be an adult with a youngster. If this is a good spot with a lot of deer traffic, the deer will change their route when they sense something out of the ordinary. You just have to figure out in what way their route will change.
Good Luck either way.

Let them crowd each other out and sit in your other blinds. If anything, they' ll push the deer from that area, and hopefully to you! I' d leave it alone and consider that area a loss for myself hunting this season.
