shot a deer for the first time this weekend with this broadhead. impact was about 3" behind shoulder and exit was right behind opposite shoulder. large entry and exit holes. got both lungs but the hold thru each lung was fairly small as apparently the blades went back to the non expanded position as it passed thru and expanded back out when it hit the heavier resistance on the opposite side. i watched the deer run off for approximately 150 yards where she stopped looked around and then entry a hedge row. way to far for a double lung shot. i waited an hour to followup and found very little blood until i got inside the hedge row 50 yards where i found a 6-8"diameter pool of blood that had bubbles in it-classic lung. no deer long story short we found her about another 50 yards down the hedge row where she had started into a CRP field and finally died. not sure why this took so long but i do have my fixed blades back on my arrows. if that deer would have traveled that far in heavy cover there is a good chance we would not have found her and the shot was perfect. i love shooting those broadheads as they fly perfect but apparently there is some risk of not getting a big enough hole to get your animal down quickly.

my son had a buddy have the same exact experience this weekend. his deer went 230 yards with little to no blood trail. found it by doing a search of the area. i think something is wrong with the design of these broadheads in that they do not stay expanded thru the soft tissue in the lung cavity. mine will be used up shooting small game. i will not take a chance on loosing a deer with these.
