if they are walking I blate real low,just enought for them to hear me.I am ready to shoot when I do it.a split second later I release.have never had one spook.they put on breaks and I shoot.

I shot one once that was walking and hit it a little far back and it started to rain and lost that one.so I " DO NOT SHOOT ONE WALKING" anymore.

if they spook I will get another chance later,if not;it' s better than looseing one.JMHO;)[:-]

I hope they' ll stop on their own, if not a maaaa usually does. One time (rut) this buck poped out walking in some fairly thick stuff, I maaaed twice.and yelled hey twice also he kept right on walking like I wasn' t even there. Well didn' t spookk him anyhow.

I always stop him in the first available shot window if I can. Too many variables involved in waiting for him to do what you want him to do.

Last year, while gun hunting, to stop a buck, i yelled " Hey!" and poof, he stopped...This morning, i had a Button Buck under my stand, and to play a bit, i made a wierd noise, then repeated only louder and repeated again. oddly enought he stopped. I know i wouldnt have!

If they are moving I always grunt to stop them. I don' t like taking a shot on walking deer. Where I hunt there are very few places you could make a sucessful shot so one walking just isn' t an option. I have not had one spook stopping them for the shot.

I also dont trust myself shooting at walking deer. So I ' Maaaaa' with my mouth when they get in range if the deer are walking. I do this very softly just enough for the deer to hear it. If they dont stop I bleat louder. Usually they freeze sometimes even with one foot in the air. But you better already be drawn and aiming and shoot as soon as he stops. And if they go on by without stopping I will grunt and sometimes they come back.

I will not take a moving, regardless how slowly, shot. I do mouth grunt quickly and quietly just to get their attention and not give up my position. If they are feeding or just strolling and stopping I still stop them at my window if they don' t stop on their own. Haven' t spooked one yet. Have shot a few and played with a bunch.

Like Cardeer, it depends on the situation, I prefer them to stop on their own because they are calmer and unaware however if they do not, I will stop them at the right opportunity for a shot.....I have not spooked any however I did see that video mentioned above....

I rarely stop them unless they' re out there a ways, and even then I may not. I have no problems with a walking shot at a deer. I probably shoot 50 percent of them walking. Some slow, some faster..... NONE real fast. 20 yards and under I figure it' s better than trying to stop them. They' re less likely to jump the string or hear the shot or have the sound register before it' s to late
