can i shoot these arrows in my bow
i was wondering if any of you guys know if it is safe to shoot the new highcountry speed pro 5.5 gr per inch arrows in a regular carbon 4 runner extreme i really like these arrows they give me about 10 to 15 feet per second faster but i was wondering about dry firing and being hard on my bow.

RE: can i shoot these arrows in my bow
I believe the industry standard is 5 grains of arrow for every pound of draw weight. As long as you stay at that weight, or more, you should be safe. That means, if you' re shooting 70 lbs, the minimum safe arrow for your bow must weigh 350 grains.

That' s the complete total arrow. What type of point is irrelevant.

RE: can i shoot these arrows in my bow
i just talked to high country and the guy to me that with the speed pro 5.5 and 100 grain tip my arrow should way around 280 and would be well above dry firing.

RE: can i shoot these arrows in my bow
my bow is a highcountry carbon 4 runner extreme about 2 years old and pulling 70lbs with a 27 inch draw and it has the weighted mathews cam is there anything else you would like for me to include.

RE: can i shoot these arrows in my bow
I estimate about a 300 grn arrow (less if you have feathers). That is about 4 grns per pound.
I would not shoot that arrow out of a 2 yr old High country. You are in the danger zone IMO and it has to be pretty loud. Your short 27" draw may help a bit but still not good if you ask me. You should keep the arrow 350 or over to be safe and keep the noise down. |

RE: can i shoot these arrows in my bow
high country tells me that they dry fire this bow so many times without a problem but you know they will probably tell anything to make you happy but maybe i should just stick with the beamans ics i really love the speed of the speed pro 5.5 but saftey should always be first no matter what and one more thing how can they shoot these arrows out of the new ssr high country.

RE: can i shoot these arrows in my bow
xi used to have a machine they would take to shows and dry fire the heck outta of a nemisis, i forget how many times , but bows ARE NOT made for the end user to dry fire ! so play it safe and listen to what these guys have to say! a sliver of carbon arrow in your hand ,not to mention what could happen if the bow blew up ,would put you out of action for quite some time.
