RE: What' s the wierdest place you' ve seen a deer?
A 6 pointer running through the main terminal at Dulles International Airport just outside of DC
Stuck to the front of a locomotive as it was coming through a railroad crossing. Last year while I was cheking out from hunting at a military intallation. A 6 pointer came running from the woods across the street (approx. 300 yards) through 5 rows of parked cars right past a line of us hunters checking in deer and ran right into the side of the game check station. About 100 hunters just stood there in awe. We couldn' t believe what just happened. The buck layed there stunned. It finally got up, shook his head and stepped over a doe waiting to be checked in and walked into the woods right behind the check station. |

I use to be the supply room manager at a textile mill in Georgia and 6 point buck came running into our supply room. This was in a city where the closest woods was about 5 - 8 miles.

RE: What' s the wierdest place you' ve seen a deer?
A group of deer feeding about 50 yards in front of the targets ....while about 200 Marines were firing m16' s over their backs from the 300 yard line.
Fishing the out going tide of a tidal river for stripers during the summer and had a deer swim past me directly out into the Atlantic. In the kitchen of a friends house ... they adopted a fawn that had its mother hit by a car. Was a dairy farm so they stuck it in with the calves and raised it .. named it Du-Du. Stuck a yellow cattle tag in his ear and once he was weened off of milk let him do whatever he wanted. He' d come up to the house every once in awhile for potato chips (his favorite). Around the fall of that year he stopped showing up except for every once in awhile.. until the next fall when he showed up on the back porch all tore up from a bad fight, he was a six pointer then. They brought him inside .. patched him up and fed him a good meal and kicked him back out to fend for himself. I saw the pictures on the fridge but only half believed it .. till driving down the road the farmers son yelled there' s Du-Du and stopped the truck and ran across the field right at this nice buck... who I expected to bolt at any second, but he didn' t. He let the farmers son grab his rack and wrestle with him like he was a big lab for a minute before the kid kicked the deer in the butt and he ran off into the woods. That was the day after the last day of the season. The only rule on that farm is you can' t shoot Du-Du .. which they aren' t really to worried about, with all the hunting we do during archery and shotgun and even some drives later in the season .. in 3 years no one has ever seen Du-Du in the woods. |
