Yes i have done that once, what happens is the shoulder blade shatters. Makes for a really nice kill deer doesnt go far.

Good luck hunting

The buck I shot last year went thru the shoulder blade. I made a bad shot , luckily I have enough ke that it blew thru the shoulder blade. It' s not something I would try to do. If you hit the shoulder bone (knuckle) directly your in for a long day!

I shot a large doe last year at a 90 degree agle through both shoulder knuckes with a 100 grain NAP Shockwave and it destroyed both sides. She never went far though. Arrows went almost all the way through

How much kinetic energy are you shooting to blow thru two shoulder bones (not blades)?

The reason I ask is , last year I was shooting 70ftlbs of kinetic energy and I blew thru one shoulder bade and the arrow came to a dead stop when it hit the opposite shoulder bone. The shot was 15yds with a NAP spitfire.

I did about the same thing last year, except I almost got a pass-thru(only the half the fletching didn' t pass, but came out about 5 yards from the shot0.....only it was at 25 yards with a 100gr Thunderhead.....72 ft-lbs K.E. He went about 30 yards if that.....plowing with his front end on the ground the whole way. It was a less than perfect shot, and I was lucky....I know it was the exception rather than the rule.

Operating under the assumption that most of the typical expandable heads lose some KE to open the blades then, theoretically, you might have had enough to push through both shoulder blades if you used a cut on impact or trocar tip style broadhead. I am not making any judgements but rather an observation.

In response to the original question, I have never had shoulder blade shot...intentionally or unintentionally....so I honestly would not know.
