Instead of bashing this guy in the paper, or writing a very long rebuttal to all his ignorant ideas, a very short, to the point letter should be sent simply stating:

" This person has no knowledge of what bowhunting is, or does. Please seek out the facts before judging" .

This keeps you above this idiots mentality, and makes people think without boring them, or sounding like we' re whining. It also makes him look like the ingoramous that he is.

mdbo you have thrown down the gaunlet, I will pick it up, but before I start please find out what is the maximum number of words they will publish. The reason is I want to make sure the point is made without letting them " EDIT" the death out of the rebuttal.

BTW TR has already sent a rebuttal in, but I will do my part also.

Make sure you find out max # of words and I will start on it tomorrow.

What I find most amusing is that you do not see any hunters publicly bad-mouthing any of the anti-hunting groups. We tend to make more appropriate actions in regard to defending our sport. Maybe that is part of the problem though. We seem to do so much reactive stuff and not enough proactive measures.

PA I have always geared my rebuttals to be more educational than defensive or attacking. I always start off with this is in rebuttal to " Topic X" and then blind them with facts, not opinions or feelings. I have receieved several letters of support when using this tact and a newspaper is more likely to print something that is not an attack.

Oh, I definitely think you would make more headway with a sound, rational argument based on facts as opposed to one geared strictly towards swaying emotions.

I think we are forced into that situation because the anti-hunting crowd is so much more vocal. Even the fact that you have to offer a rebuttal as opposed to being able to just state the facts without constantly addressing what anti-hunters have stated is part of what I was referring to as reactive. They almost force us into addressing the issues that they want to address and not necessarily the ones that should be used to educate.

I applaud you though for getting involved.

Maybe what we have to do is get all of this ingnorant short sighted people together and have them go to an over populated deer state like Wisconsin after a severe winter and pick up the deer carcasses that starved to death or watch while the deer are still alive but so weak that they can' t move and see if they have the same opinion about us ruthless and barbaric bowhunters. I have seen it. It was one of the worse site you can imagine in the world of animals. But they don' t see that because they are rightous in their just cause against barbarians.

PABowhntr, I agree with you. Most of us are conservative. We would prefer just to be left alone. It takes crap like this to make us stand up & speak out. It seems as if we' re always defending ourselves & our sport.
A good offense is a good defense.
I have no idea how to start up a poll here, but I wonder how many people here donate meat or know someone who does to the needy. At least that' s going on the offense.
