Had a $200 ladder stand stolen a few years back, even had (3) a cables and locks on it.

I did this to my ladder stand a few years ago and no one has bothered it ever since.

If they want it, they'll get it. Just bust off the cement or cut the rungs at ground level. Good Idea though. and will deffinately slow them down. Some won't really steal it I believe they just relocate them to their spot. Rather than get caught with it in theirt vehicle. If they go missing just walk the woods, chances are there within a mile.

Great idea. Never had a stand stolen (yet) but would do this for our spots that we don't switch. You could even just do it to one leg. If they bring in the tools to steal it won't matter if one or two are cemented in. If someone takes the time to steal a stand when this is done than they need to rethink their life. Plus, you'll probably only have a 10 ft ladder stand after you stole it.

not a bad idea. the stand probably wont make it long enough for the tree to eat the stand

Do same basic thing w/o crete. I add a 2in wide, 6in long, 16ga steel strap and drill 2, 1/2" holes, 1 on each end, and add 6in lag bolts. Bolt to tree through the support/tree bite strap of stand.

Not a bad idea, until you want to move your stand. I'm lucky enough that people stay out of my woods.

Doing that to gate posts cured me of ever having that habit.

me, too...noone ever stole our stuff from the area...but if you are having that problem...better to have a stand you cant move than no stand at all

Why not just takes two sections of the ladder off?
