I was clipping some shooting lanes (can't hunt Sundays) this past weekend and actually saw 2 small scrapes with little rubs on saplings. I thought it was a tad early for this? Must be the young guys are getting fiesty already.

oddly enough , here in the midwest I see the same, all signs point to very early rut, including the "lul" that isnt supposed to happen until next week, we are already into it.

Deer Scrape will poke the eye glands in sticks almost all summer into fall. it's once there velvet falls off and there testosterone levels start to rise in the mid september that can trigger them to start scraping that the ground as well as poking their eye glads.. Where i live in ohio usually september 10 or so they start showing up and by now they have 10 or 15 on every low limb they can find.

I found rubs in NY this weekend, and just two weeks ago I saw deer with velevet on their antlers. In my area, once that falls off they start rubbing immediately
