THE CAN
No, not your bathroom! How well does the Primos Can work?
|
RE: THE CAN
just replying so that I can get the responses via email, I just got one the other day and want to know the same. What time do you use it? How do you use it? Etc?
|
RE: THE CAN
Well i used it for a season , and so far it worked like a charm, as soon as they start to chase the does it seems to work. I called 2 buck in last year with it , and shot one. I heard them running around about 50 yards away in the brush , turned it over twice and he came in at a trot. in my opinion BUY one! hope i was of some help.

RE: THE CAN
The " can" works. It is no magic solution to making deer appear from thin air but for turning a buck in your direction it' s as good as a grunt if not better. I dragged a 6 pointer across a 150 yard wide hay field at 10:30 in the morning with the can last year.
I did notice that does weren' t particularly interested in it and if anything may slowly work away from you. Worth the money for an addition to the bag of tricks. I like the fact that no matter how hard a bonehead tried, they can' t make it any louder. Unlike the tuba like deer grunts I' ve heard or deer fights to the death you sometimes hear from people with rattlin horns. |
RE: THE CAN
I' ve had awesome success with the Primo' s Can. I use it all thru the season. Primos has one of the best customer service departments in the industry!

RE: THE CAN
Wasn' t the " Beatty Buck" killed using the can? I think so, all I remember, is that about 2 years ago you couldn' t find one around here b/c someone had killed a monster whitetail using it. I think it was Beatty.
|
RE: THE CAN
Yeah, that was Beatty. I got the Can at the end of last season, and can' t wait to see how it works.
|
RE: THE CAN
The " CAN" simply makes the contact call of a whitetail which you can imitate with any adjustable reed call...you want to make a bleat that rises and then falls in pitch.
|
RE: THE CAN
Can' t hurt to try. Thanksfor the replies
|
RE: THE CAN
Is every one using the " Can" or the " lil Can" or the other larger one?
I purchased one last year with no success! |
RE: THE CAN
I purchased The Can last year and it did work for me. It' s certainly something I would buy again.
|
RE: THE CAN
i bought the big can and it did nothing for me. i used it sparingly and even during the rut with no responce. i will try it this year again but i always wonder if something is marketed as the gimmic of the year:eek: i also only use a grunt call to turn deer around i have never found it to bring in any deer on its own.
|
RE: THE CAN
Can' t speak for th can cause I' ve never used one. I will however tell you that I think it is tough to beat the True Talker:D This will be my third season for it and you can use one call to do fawn, doe or buck. The only other call type I carry is a little reed one that sounds like a blow:D[&:]

RE: THE CAN
I have had a couple young bucks respond, but never a big boy.
|
RE: THE CAN
I have a big can and a little one. Never had a deer change his pattern because of it. (it didn' t work for me) They may look my way, but they just keep on going!
Maybe this year! Good Luck! |
RE: THE CAN
:DITS THE CAN MAN, HE HATES THE CANS.SORRY JUST HAD TO.
|
RE: THE CAN
I bought the origonal can last year. The first and last time I used it last year I had a buck come stomping it' s way up through the woods and stopped about 10 yards away. So far I have had great results with it.
Good Luck |
RE: THE CAN
ITS THE CAN MAN, HE HATES THE CANS.SORRY JUST HAD TO. " Hey buddy! You shouldn' t call that dog hero, you should call him Sh*t head!" [:o]:D |
RE: THE CAN
I bought one last year just prior to the rut and never got any response to it. I have had numerous successes with grunt/bleat calls, but not---so far---with the can. I plan on giving it another year to prove itself though . . . if nothing happens, it' ll probably sit in the junk cabinet.

RE: THE CAN
When used in the right situation, the CAN can work!!! I don' t know how many times I caught the attention of a buck last year (late Oct./early Nov.). I called a monster to within 45-50 yds, but that' s all he wanted. I don' t think it helped that my hand was shaking so bad that the can wasn' t as smooth as it could have been
|
RE: THE CAN
i tried it two years ago mine didnt want to work in the cold must of got a bad one cause it would work in the house.
|
RE: THE CAN
When I was a kid about 70 years ago I had a can that sounded like a cow when turned upside down. When I saw the can deer call I thought they had resurrected my toy (so I bought one). Don' t get to use it too much as another party hunts the same farm I do the 1st week end of rifle season and then another party hunts it the second season, which pretty much takes care of actual rut. Get some good time in about 10 days before rifle season, but then we stay out of the woods for a few days to let things settle down for the 1st rifle season. Don' t bother to stay away for the 2nd bunch, but by then things have pretty much gone wild from all the shooting. Will try it again this year, though.

RE: THE CAN
I thought about getting one but didn' t know if they were ant good or not. Thanks forthe info.
