RE: Do you play any games while you practise?

We usually get cut-throat pretty quickly.......chasing nocks.

Usually starts innocent enough with 2 guys accidentally shooting for the same spot, when one will WHACKO!! the other guy' s nock. Then it' s GAME ON!! [:o]:DNobody is safe, and the good arrows get put away in a hurry.

That can get pretty expensive and fast tho, especially with the shooters in my group of friends.[:-]

We always get in a good game of " whitetail" ! Played the same as you play " horse" in basketball. The second shooters arrow has to be within four fingers of the first shooters arrow or he gets a letter. I' ve taken my furthest shots playing this game.

We at Hunt camp play a Loonie (Canadian Dollar!) shoot All guesstimated Yardages and the closest to the Center Ring gets the pot!

Same as BOWFANATIC except we play " BUCK" cause whitetail would take way too long.....some real shooters here...;) no one misses...;) and if time allows, perhaps a second game of " PIG" .

We play horse a lot like a couple have said. Its fun to take some really long shots through some tiny holes in brush. We have to stay within 3 inches.

We used to do several things. Like dangling a business card on a string in front of the target and letting the wind blow it. (That gets pretty challenging when it lays against a arrow that missed and all you can see is the edge of the card). We also used to hang eggs the same way, only at 40 yards.

My brother inlaw and I give values for each shot. Ex. 20 yards bullseye is 1 point, where a 35 yard bullseye is 3 points. Each take a turn shootng where ever you choose. After 4 or 5 rounds you total the points. I like the sounds of the whitetail game, never played it but tomorrow I' m gonna try it. I always find things to shoot. Apples, pears, coffee cans, snuf cans, and yesterday I was shooting broadheads into a pumpkin. Anything I can do to keep it interesting.

Being that I was a javelin thrower in College, I don' t think too many people would play that game wih me, but I' ll try and con them into it.

We usually play a game like pig or horse. no rangefinders. The worse shot gets the letter. It' s fun stuff that can lead into some very long shooting sessions.

RE: Do you play any games while you practise?

At home, I' ll make up some dart targets...and play some cricket.
Otherwise, take those old AOL free 1000 hour disks and see if you can shoot through the center without breakign the disk.
Another game we do...started out a game we made up for darts.
The game is called Patriot (for the missiles)
first shooter shoots 3 arrows. take a rubber band and go around all 3 (makes a triangle)
2nd shooter tries to get arrows inside of the rubber band (if playing at 20 yards or less...this can almost turn into a game of nockers). Every arrow inside the rubber band is a point.
After the 2nd shooter fires his 3 arrows...the rubber band now goes around HIS arrows.
To make the game playable with good archers...add these " handi-cappers" :
stand on a 3x3' sheet of plywood laying over an inner tube (tractor...or one used for water tubing, or sledding)
Shoot while sitting on the ground (not kneeling).
Time the shots (30 seconds to fire all 3 arrows)
add your own difficulty handi-cappers.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 04:55 PM.
