Mathews LX vs. Others?

Tried out the Hoyts, AR, PSE, & Parker. It just felt better. I also play guitar a lot and I can tell you that each one sounds and " feels" different. I have never had the nads to drop $2500 on a top line guitar. And for those that don' t have any " feel" they would say I would be foolish to do so, how much better can it be? To them I just shake my head. It' s all about the soul & feel. But you need the $$$$ these days to get that extra % that transends one from the norm that is so suductive to stay within the lines. I love to have the best if I can afford it. I rarely get it, So when I have a chance to own what in my pea brain feels like a royal flush in a high stakes game. I just had to jump at it and hope that the rewards make the purchase worth while.

Oh yea I should get my head out of the clouds. but it doesn' t feel as good!

I' m not a mathews shooter!!!!

I shoot a Jennings. I really like my bow.... A LOT. It fits me very well. The draw is very smooth, especially considering I' m drawing 70 lbs.

Last January, I had the oportunity to shoot a Legacy. It was then I realized the reason there is such a cult following to Mathews. It was a great bow. One of the best bows I' ve shot.

I did' nt go out and buy one because I can' t afford it right now. In the future I can see myself shooting one. For now, I' ll shoot my Jennings. I can still put 6 arrows into a 4" hole from 25 yards. Shoot where you aim. I think it' s important to know....even if a Mathews is' nt in tune.....you can' t hit the broad side of a barn.

Happy Hunting to you all regardless of what you shoot!!!!!

I' ve shot a MQ1 for four years. I researched several different bows, and the MQ1 was the best for me. It felt good and fit me well. The reviews were good, and the warranty was the best at the time. I haven' t regreted my purchase once.

RE: Who all uses a Mathews bow and why?

My wife took me to the archery store and told me to get what I wanted. After 4 hours, I walked out with a Mathews Q2XL with all the goodies. I shot a lot of different bows that day, including PSE, Hoyt, and High Country. I think the Q2XL was the second or third bow I shot, then the last one I shot, and after two hours of shooting, and a sore arm, I grouped better with the Q2XL than any other bow that day. I tried the shorter Q2, but it didn' t feel right to me. The Q2XL was just the perfect fit. I picked up that bow in October of 2001 and I am still using it today.

Since then I' ve tried a few other bows. I really don' t like the feel of the Hoyt' s, and I' ve tried shorter axle to axle bows now like the SQ2, and wish I had the money to put one of those in my arsenol. I also had a chance to shoot the bowtech patriot on last years caribou hunt, and I was very impressed with it. I wouldn' t hesitate to shoot either a Mathews or a Bowtech, but when I search around on the internet or ebay, Mathews is always the first word I type in under search.

I bought my LX last week, and I didn' t even try any others. The proshops in this area push Mathews hard, and for good reason. I wanted to buy the VFT first so as to not buy into the hype of the Mathews. However, one of the bow techs offered to let me shoot his LX and even with a different setup than I was used too, I was able to consistently group arrows at 20 yards within 2 inches. Needless to say I was sold.

RE: Who all uses a Mathews bow and why?

I traded a suzuki Rm-80 Dirt Bike for a Bear Whitetail 2, crossbow and a couple of odds and ends in 1980. I thought I took the guy to the bank....yeah right! Anyway, like most of you, I have owned and hunted with many different brands and styles of bows. In the early nineties I became a serious 3-D tournament shooter and won my fair share of trophies, ribbons, plaques and buttons with several different Hoyt bows, which at the time was IMO the best bow on the market. In the middle nineties, I relocated to Nashville, Tn in persuit of a recording deal and literally did not shoot my bow for six years. In 1998, a friend of mine invited me to a 3-D shoot which I happily abliged. After replacing the string and performing all the maintenance details, i found that I had the second slowest bow at the shoot and the oldest bow there. I started asking around and it seemed that everyone was shooting mathews bows. I decided then and there that it was time that I purchase a new bow. I spent the next month shooting every brand and style of compound bow on the market. I ended up buying the Q2, which at the time was the smoothest, quietest, most forgiving, and the most accurate bow I personally had ever shot. In 2002, I traded it for the Legacy and fell in love all over again. A month and a half ago I bought the new LX and now am head over heels in love with this bow. It all boils down to what works for you. I would challenge anyone to shoot a mathews bow against their favorite bow, but, then again competition is good. I wouldn' t like it if I was forced to drive a Chevy or a Dodge.......that' s fine! What I hope to see is for all archers to support each other and our hunting sport. It really bothers me to listen to some idiot at a tournament or bow shop running their mouth about their bow and that if you don' t shoot brand X you' re an idiot! The only idiot is the guy or gal that thinks that way. The other thing that really gets my goat is the guy that can stand their and say he' s anymore ethical of a hunter because he shoots fingers and not a release!!! That is soo ridiculous. Anyone that is shooting a compound bow manufactured in the last 15-20 years has the upper hand on the game regardless of whether or not they shoot traditionally or with a release....or use a fixed pin sight vs. the bare bow guys.......you know, it' s what your best at that matters (i have a friend that can out shoot 90% of the archers I know and he uses fingers and no sights) Does that make him more of an archer or hunter than me.....don' t think so! Now put a recurve or long bow in your hand and let me use my compound and now we have a debate.

Took the challenge several times and won' t be buying a Mathews any time soon....in fact, my good friend just visited this past weekend from out of town and he made sure to bring his Mathews into my house.....shame,;) shame on him...but enjoying the weekend grilling steaks, scouting deer and shooting bows.....I was slammin arrows with his Mathews....I was slammin arrows with my Hoyt.....I don' t care for the Mathews grip....change that, I might consider it....for now, my Hoyt is the finest bow made, in my hands.....by the way, in all our challenges and games, I won...:D

Notice I said, in my hands...not everyone can shoot a Hoyt, for some, the Mathews feels better, for others, a Bowtech is the one....that' s why I continue to say...The best bow made is the bow in the hand of the person you are talking to! :)
