How far will you shoot?

I trust my shooting skills and my nerves enough that if I have an open shot at a known range (reads laser rangefinder), I will shoot to 40-45 yards without hesitation if I' m in a comfortable position and the animal is relaxed.

Good point, Matt. My criteria for shooting 45 is, knowing exact range to the target, no wind, open woods, and relaxed animal. It doesn' t all come together too often, but when it does, it' s what I practice for.

I practice regularly out to 70-80 yards, its just fun for me, but hunting on average I may shoot out to 35 yds. Under perfect conditions( no wind, relaxed animal, broadside, not moving, in the open) I may stretch it to 40-45 after I use a rangefinder, but have never taken a shot like that yet, likely wont ever.
