Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I have always praticed, tuned, and hunted with my quiver attached to my bow. How many of you keep your quiver attached at all times?. Because I tuned my bow with the quiver attached and have practiced this way for 20 years I see no effect on accuracy. I like the fact that I can have another arrow nocked in a flash in case Im lucky enough to get a second shot.
What quiver setup do ya' ll use and why? |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
Always attached. [:-]

RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
Me too:)

RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I take mine off once I' m settled in to the stand. I tune and shoot with out it. I have a bracket on my stand that the quiver slides right into and I can access it very quickly and easily. As far as why....well, I like to lay my bow accross my lap and if the quiver is on the arrows are bending(carbons, no big deal) and the bow won' t lay flat....sort of wants to wobble. Also, I have a bow holder on my stand and the bow will not set in it with the quiver on....I could move it to the other side, but then it' s not as handy.
Now that I' ve said all that, I have shot just as many deer with the quiver on....I just prefer it off. Makes me feel more confident, I guess. |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I have always left my Quiver attached. 30 plus years and it still works for me..
( bow set up that is ) hehe |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I take my quiver off in stand and hang it in tree. I practice all summer w/o it too.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
My old bow I removed the quiver, my new one I shoot with it on, in regards to accuracy, I really don' t know, I have never removed my quiver from the bow.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I shoot with it on. Although once I had a deer spook right before the shot and I swear it was because of the quiver being on the bow the deer saw the brightly colored vanes. As I always hide my face behind the bowstring;).
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I use a Kwikee 3 and have always shot and hunted in stand without it.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I will take mine off once I get to my stand. It just feels more comfortable, lighter and evenly balanced. I do however practice with it on and off, don' t notice much difference in accuracy, although some tend to cant their bow with the quiver on.
Good Luck this Season!! |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
Mine is always attached, ' cause I' m not stuck in a tree stand while hunting antelope, elk, mule deer, and sometimes whitetails. Although I prefer the tree stand while hunting whitetails, I just spend too much time hunting other critters.:D
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I used a Kwikee 6 arrows. Always attached to the bow when hunting in tree stand or not. I practiced with and without the quiver. It didn' t make a difference on me.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I keep mine attached, while practicing too. Seems to help stabalize the bow too.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt wiht it on, I sleep with it on, I shower with it on..... I do everything with it on.. LOL
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I have a High Country quiver attached to my High Country bow loaded with 5 Carbons tipped with Muzzy 100gr and one on the string:D
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I never have it attached.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I do both. When in a ground blind or a tree stand I take it off, when stalking or decoying antelope it is on. I practice with it both on and off the bow. The only difference I see is that with it on the balance of the bow is different due to the weight. I use a level on my sight so it isn' t a problem. Without the level torque would be a big issue.

RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I use to hunt and practice with it on....I liked the arrows at my finger tips when I' m hunting, but now I practice with the quiver off and hunt with the quiver in a quiver holder made by High Point........When walking to my stand my quiver is on, but when I get to my stand I remove it.
With my quiver on, I could never group horizontally like I wanted too..I decided to take it off, and my grouping improved...After many days of practicing with the quiver off, I tried with the quiver on again and could hardly hold my bow up.... I guess with the quiver on, it is a little too much weight for me.. I wonder if the quiver was torquing my bow also? I shoot a Fire Flite PSE 39" axle to axle with the PSE One piece quiver........I would like to try the PSE two piece one day....I can' t see it torquing like a one piece.... I think with my quver attached to the side of my stand, it will be just fine for getting another arrow quick.... |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt with it off. I practice with it off......and occasionally on. The only time my quiver is attached, is on the way out to my stand and on the way back in.
Good Luck! |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
Ive got the Kwikee 4 arrow Combo quiver and
I hunt with it off. I attach it to the tree when I get up in my treestand. When turkey hunting I usually use a hip quiver. We get a lot of wind here in Iowa and my bow easy definitely easier to shoot with the quiver off. I do practice occasionaly with my quiver on, just in case;). |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I leave it on most of the time, but practice with it on and off.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I haven' t hunted with a bow mounted quiver AT ALL in the last 6 years. I HATE the stupid things.:D Noisy, knock your bow out of balance, ugly monstrosities if you ask me.
I have been using a Catquiver1 for the last 2 seasons and it works out great. I wear it when I climb, slip it off and strap it to the tree. The little pouch on top holds what little gear I need with no need for a fanny pack..... kills 2 birds (and hopefully a deer) at the same time.;) |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
cat quiver mini for me at I tell you its great! nothing to get int he way nad I believe I can shoot my second arrow faster than someone with a quiver on!
You shoot take a look at it!!! |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt with mine off unless I' m stalking. The extra weight seems to tip my bow to the right. I never noticed it until I bought a sight with a level in it. If I would practice with it off for a while, no problem. Then I' d break out the bow with a full quiver and draw back the first arrow and notice the bow tilting to that side! For 3D shoots I use a hip quiver. Most everyone else I see there does also - probably for the same reason.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt with it off. I have a bracket I attach my quiver to the tree. The bow is alot lighter and a lot less bulky.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt with mine on. I use a 2 piece quiver because its lighter, quieter and solid. Years ago when I shot fingers, I used to shoot 3-Ds with the quiver on and arrows attached.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I shoot a very light bow so when the quiver is on it really seems lopsided and out of balance. I practice both on and off...more accurate with it off, but I feel comfortable taking certain shots with it on just in case.
I' ve been thinking about that Cat Quiver...I' m too cheap. Anyone use a side quiver fro Bheads while hunting? |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt with mine on always. I like having the second shot readily available, whether for a miss or a second deer. (It' s come in handy for both!) I rest my bow across the rail of my stand, and it just lays better with the quiver on. I' ve shot with it off, anbd it just mak4ed the bow too light for me. I like the stabilizing weight that it provides. It' s just what I' ve always done, and it' s what I' m used to.

RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt and practice with mine off. In the stand, I hang it close by for easy access in case I need another arrow.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
i started taking mine off because i lay my bow in my lap and then i started practicing without it attatched and decided i was much more acurate. It weighs down the bow a little so i tend to start wobbling faster or shoot high.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
Cat Quiver I for me. I have a Kwickee mount on the bow and a Kwickee quiver, but they are rarely used.
|
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I hunt wiht it on, I sleep with it on, I shower with it on..... I do everything with it on.. LOL |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
i use a soft loc 3 arrow quiver attached and still shoot well---bass pro shop sells a tree stand quiver mount for those who do not

RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
This will be the first year I hunt with it OFF.
I have never needed a quick second shot in 20 yrs of bowhunting. But you know I will this year[:-]:D |
RE: Hunt with quiver attached to bow?
I take mine off once I get settled in the tree stand. I bought an extra mount for my Kwikee Kwiver Kwik 3 and mounted it on the side of the tree stand right at my fingertips. One time when I used to hunt with it on the bow and as I came around for the shot, one of the arrows hit a bare part of the stand and that was all it took for that deer to take off. But I think it is pretty much up to each hunters preference.
