Unbelievable!!
I am riding my Quad doing some scouting for tree stand locations and tracks in all this rain. I come around a bend and there are 2 bucks a 4 and a 7 in full velvet. I quickly shut off the quad and observe. They could have cared less..15 yards away and they continued to eat, poop and play. They start coming towards me the 7 walks behind me at 10 yards while the four is in front of me..I' m like this aint happenning. I swat mosquitos away..lift my leg to get off the quad and they continue eating. After 45 minutes of observing I start the quad to go home and tell my son and wife. I get son and camera and go back and they are a few yards away and ignoring us. Then the 4 starts rubbing antlers and removes velvet right in front of us. They spare a little and we get great pictures.. Man what a way to get pumped for the season. Do you think the pain of removing the velvet just made them so relaxed?? It was weird the way they did not get scared. How do I post pictures? Thanks

RE: Unbelievable!!
Pretty cool! Especially that you got the pics!
IMO, year and a half old bucks are just flat stupid, in most areas. They haven' t learned yet that they are supposed to be scared of you...:D LOL, give them another year, you won' t see that for sure. I will also agree that deer do get a good idea when the season starts. Pressure is up, and run ins with humans are much more common. They start to learn they' d better get moving, or else they end up [X(] I video' d 2 last sept that had already shed the velvet, doing the same thing, right out in front of my house. They were sparring and carrying on for about 20 minutes. They could have cared less that my son and I were watching. They' d spar a while, stop and eat some...look at us, then go back to sparring. It' s always fun to see them like that. :) |
RE: Unbelievable!!
That is awesome. That must really have been a cool experience. Thanks for the pics.

RE: Unbelievable!!
I' ve got an interesting question for you. Now that you' ve made " friends" with them . . . could you shoot one of them?
I' ve had several deer families that have lived in my yard over the years--even had one button buck that used to look in the window and watch NFL football with me. When I encountered these " acquaintances" in the woods, I couldn' t bring myself to shoot them. Now the bucks that were tearing up my trees . . . that' s different! ;) |
RE: Unbelievable!!
If they were really my friends they would show up more often and hang out with me.Ha Ha I am pumped about tommorrow. 50 degrees at sunrise and the perfect stand location. Since it is earn a buck you know I' ll see about 4 bucks and no does. GOD Bless
