An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
Ok, well, not exactly. This is not actually an advertisement for either Deer Cocane or the Stealth Game Camera but it should be. :)
After reading about the Stealth Camera here on the forums, especially Buck Magnet' s recent posts, I decided to head down to the local Walmart and pick one up. That was Thursday. By Friday afternoon I had it filled with batteries/film and had it programmed as per the instructions. I placed it that evening in my favorite stand location....actually attached to the tree that I normally hang my treestand in. Approximately 15 yards from the base of that tree is a spot that I placed some Deer Cocane back around July 5th. Now, current PA law states that having an attractant like Deer Cocane near your stand if perfectly fine provided that any residue of it is gone by 30 days prior to the season. Our season starts October 4th so I think I am pretty safe. However, there must have been some of it left as of this past Friday as the pictures you are about to see would indicate. Following a 3D shoot on Saturday morning I proceeded to go retrieve the camera. Hunting PA public land has its disadvantages and one of them is theft so I decided to only leave the camera out overnight for the first try. Upon reaching the camera location I noticed that 7 pictures had been taken. My first thoughts were along the lines of " Well, maybe I got a shot of a doe and some fawns though it is probably more like a squirrel, rabbit, etc..." ...." Plus, we had a storm last night so I bet the lightning set it off or something...." I took the film to the local CVS to have it put through 1 hour processing and proceeded to pick the developed pictures up shortly afterwards. Surprised is such an understatement for the way I felt. I have babbled long enough. Here are the pics....... ...Oh, and bare with me as I have not figured out how to embed more than one pic in each post so this may take a minute or two. Please wait until I get all 5 of them up before responding....Thanks...:) ![]() |

RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
AWSOME PICS FRANK!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I take it that you are pleased with the Stealth cam? I am not sure if this is the case, but, it seems like the Stealth cam is set to only set-off pictures on larger game. I have been putting out corn and all I get is deer pics, which is fine by me. No squirel or racoon pics! That last buck is a beauty!!!!! I hope that you get to put cupids arrow straight through that bad boys heart this year :D Man, I can' t wait to check out my camera' s on Friday. I have the one set up in the same place as before, but, the other is in a new place. It is set up at a creek crossing that is supposidly used by a buck that is nicknamed " Bubba" . I have not seen this deer, but, my best friends uncle has seen him on several occassions. He said that last year he was an absolute monster of a 12 point. Hopefully I can capture a pic of that bad boy this week. These cameras are so much fun, almost as much fun as actually hunting the deer!!!!! |
RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
They definitely are an absolute blast to use. I might have to pick up another as well.
I am very pleased with the Stealth cam and I need to a do a little more research to figure out why some of the other cameras cost so much more. I am sure the digital cameras are one reason but there has to be some more options or something. One of the guys that I showed the pics to down at the shop thinks that the 8 pointer is a 3.5 year old and that the 10 pointer is actually younger. His advice was to let the 10 walk until next year and then maybe it would make Pope and Young. Though he may be right I have to wonder if he understands how a statement like that would be interpreted for someone who hunts heavily pressured public land. |
RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
Nice ! Id like to find out when the deer and how big are comming to my favaoite spot in NH. About how much was the cost of camera at wal-mart?[:o]

RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
I have also wondered where that extra $350.00 goes when you buy a BuckShot!!! Heck, you can get 5 Stealth Cams for the price of your average game camera now-a-days. They do the exact same thing, and get the exact same results.
I wonder what camera is in these Stealth Cams. It seems to be very good quality as my pics (and from the looks of it, yours too) are turning out great. One thing that I really love is the flash. My Moultrie had a more condensed flash that was great if a deer was in the exact center of the picture and was close to the camera, where as the Stealth Cams are good everywhere. The batteries in mine are still going strong, so that is a plus. Add to that the fact that I got the Rayovak package of 20 batteries for $6.00.... you just can' t beat that! The only thing is that there are SOO many bucks, that film developement is gonna be expensive :D As far as that 10 pointer. He would probablly be better next year, but, I sure as heck wouldn' t pass him up. :D Hopefully you will get some more pics of him in hard-horn! Friday, when I check on my cameras, I will probablly be placing one in another place. This place won' t get hunted till rifle season, so, I will put the camera on a powerline that gets some heavy use during the rut, throw out 120 pounds of deer corn, and see what happens!!!!!!! :D |
RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
bucks4me,
You can pick these cameras up at Wal-Mart for between $65.00-$70.00 a piece. That includes a mounting strap and a locking plate. All you need is film, a chain, a pad-lock, and 8- AA batteries, and you are good to go. Wal-Mart has a special of Rayovak batteries, it is 20 AA batteries for around $6.00 |
RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera

PAbowhunter...........When you out the Deer Coccaine.......How exactly did you do it? Did you follow the directions exactly?
Thanks! |
RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
Great pics.Amazing though bucs nocturnal feeding before hunting season. I feel your pain.Hunting pressured land is tough.Save your money and buy soda ash from a pool supply place. That' s all deer cocaine is.

Nice going Frank. After the trouble with the Moultri (sp) and when it was stolen I bought a Lakota cam for 150 bucks. Havn' t gotten down to Md yet to set it up but seeing your pics makes me want to go right now in all that Labor Day traffic.

RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
Great pics PABowhunter:) I know that now you are really itching for opening day! I agree that the 10 might be better next year but on the other hand he may not be around next year. So go the woes of public land. I' m afraid that if he walked by me I' d have trouble restraining myself:D

RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
Great pics PABowhunter.....That ten definitely is smaller bodied that the other one....should make him easier to drag;)

RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
Cloud 9,
No, I did not follow the instructions exactly. For one I did not put the whole bag out in one application. I used gallon milk jugs and mixed the solution together just prior to heading out into the woods. I think they recommend that you either do not mix it at all (powder form) or that you mix it with water from a nearby stream or creek just prior to the application. After experimenting with the Deer Cocane last year I found that the location is the absolute key to its effectiveness. If the soil is too stony/porous then the DC just leeches right out of it and the deer pay little attention to it. My suggestion is to find relatively fertile looking soil....next to a creek bed for example....or relatively close to one and go from there. The location was approximately 10 feet off of a trail that ran right past the tree that I sit in. I am very excited to put the stealth out next weekend as well. :) |
RE: An Advert. for Deer Cocane and Stealth Camera
Nice picks, depending on width, I would say that 10 is close to P&Y this year.
