Default Helpful tool when fletching arrows.

Here's a helpful tool you can use when fletching your own arrows when using an arrow fletching jig. I bought and old wood folding carpenters ruler at a flea market for a couple bucks, broke off the part that has the retracting/extending ruler and used it to measure where I place my vanes in the jig clamp, for a precise measurement everytime I fletch an arrow.

Thanks NYS-Buckstalker. I forgot to mention that I also glued the slide part on the ruler so that it wouldn't move, therefore making it stationary so I get the same measurements everytime.

Depth stem on a steel caliper works the same way. Probably a little more expensive than what you paid for the old carpenters rule though, but a little more refined, and much more accurate.

Why not place the first fletch where you want, then just take a sharpie and make a mark on the existing grid and there you go. Has worked for me for over 20 yrs of fletching arrows with my Bitz.

With the carpenters ruler mentioned above, you can't get anymore accurate. If you notice in the pictures, the fletching jig end is recessed, therefore letting the ruler fit perfectly against the jig.

Default Carpenters Ruler

Here's a picture of the ruler next to the fletching jig.
