Default Pop-up Blind Placement Question

What has been everyone's experience on placement of ground blinds. There seems to be 2 schools of thought: try to conceal them, or put them in the open so they look like a hay bale.

I am going hunting tonight and was thinking of putting a blind out with the hay bales. Do blinds spook deer when the same day?

I think you'll have more luck brushing them in when on the edge of the field unless your blind looks like a haybale or cornstalk bale. Conversely, I've left blinds out in the woods fairly open among trees all season and the deer get used to them. Also, this leaving blinds up for weeks at a time before you hunt them to be effective is a bunch of nonsense if placed right and brushed in. I've "suprised" many deer who never knew I was there because it was the first night the blind was - including a very nice buck last year that ducked as my arrow skimmed his back. Good luck!

Ive personally done both... I will say however, I tend to hunt more out of the brushed in blinds than in the wide open. I think the deer get a liitle more relaxed if they can see all the way around your blind, but on the flip side, they never have the chance to become alerted if they don't know you're there (I.E. brushed in blind)

I've had much more success out of ground blinds that were brushed in. Popping one up in the middle of the field will get their attention, for sure.
