Default Bucks Shedding Their Velvet?????

Has anyone seen any bucks shedding their velvet yet? I haven't yet, but I have seen a number of deer that already have their winter coats. Does that mean it's going to get cold sooner? I think the animals can predict how the weather will be better than we do lol.

Took my daughter to bear country u.s.a. this weekend and seen the elk were shedding their velvet so i wouldnt think the deer would be too far behind. The weatherman here predicts a cold and wet fall for us this year but i never know when to believe that guy.

I took a look at a 11 point Buck hit yesterday morning coming home from work and his velvet looked like it was spreading open on a few tines. I live in southern Indiana.

The earliest I have seen them coming out of velvet, was last year on August 29th. I got a pic of an 8 point just starting to shed. I will post it tonight.

I got a pic of a buck in 2009 that had been shedding it's velvet off on on Sept 1. Shouldn't be too long in NY.

There going hard horn here in WI, and as far as there winter coats go, that is all about the amount of daylight.
