Practice w/ hunting arrow/broadhead
Instead of shooting my hunting arrow/broadhead for the 1st time when I' m hunting, I usually shoot my arrows/broadheads once each before i go afield. Do you all do the same or do you just visually check them over and go from there?

RE: Practice w/ hunting arrow/broadhead
I start shooting my broadheads exclusively about a month before the season.
I will shoot my bh' s a hundred times to get my final tune and best shooting combinations.
Then its new blades and ready to hunt

Well I shoot Spitfires and I will practice with field points right up until the day before season opens, Then I will shoot the broadheads once each to make sure they are flying like field points, replace the blades and away I go. I love Spitfires, they fly just like they are adverticed, field points!

That' s not a bad thing to do and by all means is much better then not shooting them at all. But, actually practicing with them is even better.
Here is an hypothetical example of where that alone may not work. I have a set of 2613 aluminum practice arrows that I have practiced with for a few years. I never hunt with them, just practice. They have gone through 1000' s of shots. Now I buy a dozen brand new 2613s and plan on only using them for hunting. The problem now is the deflection of my practice arrows and my hunting arrows may not and probably are not equal. Shooting my hunting arrows once may or may not show the difference.

Cool, I sure as hell hope you change the blades after you take that one shot with them. Even shooting them into a target dulls the blades and they should be changed. Always use the One shot and there done ! policy.

I have been practicing with my broadheads for awhile, but I don' t have any replacement heads. I shoot GKF Deadhead 80' s. Does anyone know where I can find replacement blades? Would I be better off just sharpening them?

OlMossy, you can get them directly from GKF website.
Nothing wrong with re-sharpening them either. Especially if you use magnus.
