RE: WHAT IS YOUR AVG GROUP AT 25 YDS?
I wish I had 1 - 2" groups consistantly.... I guess that' s what practice is for... Never had a problem hitting what I' m aiming for in the woods... *knock on wood* That' s all that matters to me! Hopefully by next season, I' ll have this new bow tamed down to a constant 1 - 2" group but for now i' ll settle with my 3 - 3.5" groups if I have to. I' m still gettin in the groove of this new bow. soon.... soon....

2 inches or less at 20, 3 1/2 at 30 an 40' s are generally 3 1/2 to 4.
When my form is on and my focus is where it should be I am deadly out to 45 and even 50. But I am working on hunting discipline now and don' t shoot anything over 40.

Haveing just shot 5 arrows at 25 yds and in useing a glove and the sun was in my eyes and the bugs were biteing me and the dog was a chewing my pant leg, I put 4 out of 5 in a soft ball group, the 5th was just outside the group. Bobby

How many of you that are shooting really tight groups use a caliper without backtension? I use a caliper and when I first started shooting my groups were pretty good and then after 3 years my groups are terrible. I am considering switching to a back tension release, but I don' t think it should be necessary in hunting only. Thanks

Just to verify what I wrote, I checked it out last night. I shot five arrows at 25 yards (only one group)---4 were in a 1 1/2" group and the 5th was less than an inch further out.

Bill welcome to the world of target panic. In different forms it has affected just about every compound shooter I have known.I use a modified form of back tension, controlled squeeze that works well for me.When I am shooting really good I can whack arrows at 25-30 yds.Let me ask you a question? Is the pin jumping around on you and are you punching the release when the pin is where you want to hit?If so,try lining up your pin, then focus on the spot you want to hit,not the pin.Look thru the pin and focus on the target. Also make sure your draw length is correct.Make sure you are following thru and not collapsing on the shot. While a real back tension relese is more accurate,as long as you are not punching the trigger and anticipating the shot you can be pretty good with an index finger release.I would not use a true back tension release for hunting, although some guys do.I would also not recomend switching this close to hunting season. There is a thread on shooting form that has some good advice.Good luck.
