RE: Climbers vs. Non-climbers

I prefer hanging stands over climbers ANY day. I have hunted climbing Warren and Sweat, API and Summit' s. The Api and Summits were all right .. but they are still louder by 1000 times walking in to your prescouted tree, attaching your bow to pull up string, then climbing up. They are also more solid by the very nature they weren' t designed to come away easily from the tree while climbing.

I think it has everything to do with your hunting style and situation. If you can hang a stand and leave it where you hunt, you can buy 2 decent hang on stands for the cost of 1 decent climber. If you have to put your stand up in the morning and take it out with you that night .. climbers are better in my opinion.

I use the SUMMIT VIPER XLS and i think it' s great--the only time it wasn' t completely silent while packing it out to my location was due to me not having it wrapped up correctly

RE: Climbers vs. Non-climbers

Thanks for all your input. I have planned a trip to Cabela' s and Bass Pro Shops in a few weeks and I will be able to compare many stands right on the spot. I am swaying towards the Summit Goliaith for the extra security;). I think there are some good fixed stands I could buy but I' m not sure where I could hang them, I don' t have any private land as of this time. Can' t wait til Hunting season opens!!!:D
