Default K&K Review

http://www.youtube.com/user/Vengeance1100?feature=mhum

This is a review of the 2011 K&K Vengeance. I purchased one of these bows, site unseen, and have had it in my possession for about 2 1/2 weeks now. The bow is a K&K Vengeance and specs are as follows:

Draw length 28" Measured spot on when it arrived. Draw weight 65# (Measured 65.5 on my scale) ATA came in within 1/8". Brace Height 7" spot on.

I took this bow from the box, shot about 10 sticks, and inserted peep. I have to be honest, I DO NOT worry about paper tuning, as broadhead tuning and walk back tuning are what is important to me. I know that if I see clean flight and my broadheads impact the same point as FP then I am good to go.

OPINION:

Bow meeting published specs: Bow was virtually spot on

Fit and Finish: The bow finish has no flaws I've been able to find as of yet. For me, I like the lines of the bows as I do the Elite and SA. Not everybody likes the same look in a bow, so take that with a grain of salt and toss it Rounded edges on this bow are appealing to me and there are no machining marks showing on bow. Finish is something I don't think you can judge completely until you've drug the bow through your hunting area for a season. I'll have to see!

Draw Cycle: Draw cycle is aggressive but smooth. To explain, I'd say that you feel the cycle coming at you early, but then it just slides through and you find yourself at the wall. I discern no hump whatsoever. The SA bows have very slight hump and you feel it drop into a short valley. I happen to like hard walls and short valley's don't bother me at all. The valley on the Vengeance will be much more appealing to the masses than that of the Strother bows from last year (Infinity & SR71)

Grip: The grip on this bow is one that fits me very nicely. Grip is clean and has only small side plates. The grip is very easily repeatable for me and I think others will find the same. It is very close to the grip on the Strother Infinity and SR71, which I have owned both (still have SR71). Cannot put my finger on it but grip seems slightly more comfortable than SA bows (a little more rounded into my hand I think).

Vibration at shot: This bow has as close to zero vibration as one can get IMO. The only bow I've shot that could possibly be better in this department is the Bowtech Guardian.

Holds: Bow seems to hold very well and does not want to move much at the shot. No kicking or snap. I am waiting on a stabilizer that will weigh in at roughly 12-15, depending on feel. I have found that, for the bows I like to shoot, this amount of weight for stab seems to agree with me. I placed a stab from my SR on it (14 OZ) and the bow seems to "want" to go to target.

Wall: This bow displays the rock hard wall you will find on virtually all bows that have draw stops that contact the limbs. I love a hard wall. For those that like a smooth/soft wall, this bow will not appeal to you. For comparison, I loved my Hoyt AM32, but the wall on that bow is NOT what I want, as it is just too spongy for me.

Bow speed/performance: The bow comes in well within or above manufacturer stated specs, as I guessed it would. I have attached a video I did in my dungeon last night which shows a few shots threw the Chrony with a 392 grain GT XT. Sorry for the poor lighting but most of my light down there is florescent and I had it turned off so as to not mess up Chrony readings. As you can see, I have the light kit on my chrony.

Tuning: The cams have white dots on them and the dots show on each side of the limb. Very easy to look at the dots to see if bow has come out of adjustment at all due to stretching or creeping.

String and cables: Bow delivered with tri-color Proline strings and cables that match bow camo very nicely. This is first set of Prolines for me, but first impression after probably 500 shots is QUALITY. Absolutely no movement of peep or evidence of any other movement.

NOTE: Reports are that these bows like a stiff spine. Many are reporting high tears through paper without going to .300 spine. Mine tunes very well with a Gold Tip XT 7595 cut to 27.5" with 100 gr head. I also have 20 gr. collars in inserts.

Overall: I really like the feel of this bow and it is just slightly ahead of the SR71 as my favorite TO DATE. I cannot say that it will stay there until I've really hammered her, at least through turkey season

As for the Manufacturer: Kevin Strother obviously has a knack for designing and building bows. There is also a very good market for his type of designs. With that said, K&K will need to step up and get their Website up and running which will allow existing, and potential customers, better access to information. They will need to step up to the plate and get better at communication with the public/market, less their hard work will go down the drain.

Hope this provides some help to others.
