The biggest problem with a game ear is this. If you wear one and turn it up so that one ear can hear significantly better than your other ear, you loose the ability to determine the direction from which the sounds are coming from. Oh sure, you can hear lots of sounds that you can' t with out one, BUT, do you really want the breeze to sound like a tornado is coming, do you really want to hear that squrrel that is digging for nuts 150 yrds. away, do you really want to hear every crow that is in your county? Spend your money on something that will help ya, not hinder ya!!!!! I give the Game ear, two thumbs down, can ya tell? Although it does work well as far as hearing protection for gun blasts, but that is the only good thing about it.

Ditto what Howler said you lose the stereo effect and cannot tell the direction the sound is comming from. 2 years ago I heard deer running ,didn' t know where they were or what direction they were running in till they past me at 30 yds running all out.

All good points . I have a directional amp with stereo headphones and a dish for better sound ID and location . The nature of the jobs I' ve worked over the years(factories , aircraft carrier) , combined with Father Time finally made this necessary for me . I wasn' t crazy about the idea since I think there are already too many high tech toys out there in the woods , but age and hearing loss conspired to make me see things differently . Proper stereo separation is crucial with amps , so is a gain control to avoid " tornado breeze" effect . Some form of frequency discrimination is a big plus if you don' t want to hear every nutcutter farting nearby , but it' s a feature found only on very expensive models . Walker' s doesn' t offer it that I' m aware of . Don' t buy monaural products , you won' t be able to locate your quarry . And please don' t make the mistake of wearing a monaural on both ears , it' s nearly impossible to balance the two correctly . This will seriously impair your ability to locate the quarry , and can damage your hearing if the units are turned up too much in an attempt to compensate . Unless you' re hearing impaired like me I' d reccomend that you avoid all such products , and spend more time in the woods learning to ID what is making which sound . You' ll be a happier and more skillful hunter in the long run .
