Yeah, illegal to carry a firearm while bowhunting in deer season here too. Off deer season I carry a sidearm. Especially while huntin pigs.

The best protection is someone smaller than you walking behind and in front of you.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> If I lived in cat country I think I'd carry a sidearm of some kind. Plus, I don't think I'd wait for one to charge. When he crouches down he's catching an arrow, a bullet or two, a couple knives and an assortment of rocks and stick.

I would carry a 5 inch 45 colt ruger redhawk. No single action for me. Keep it double action. stoke it with some nice 250 or 300gr xtp to about 1200fps and go hunting.

Sounds awesome.I have 3 cats in my area, but now the snow has melted. Harder to track,I try to find the deer and or elk, set-up a tree stand and use a deer bleat or varmit call. I hunt alone use a bow with a sidearm, just in case. I personally love the thrill and i am not afraid. I don&quot;t hunt on the ground by myself. If u do have a partner sit back to back. And call. Use your eyes and ears, no movements, and above all be alert. Hope this helps And good luck..

On the bottomland farm I hunt, the owner says there are panther/puma or whatever he wants to call them. I haven't seen them, but I was packing up after dark and I heard one do his growl and almost soiled myself. I wouldn't expect them around here, but what I heard was no housecat, but I'm not sure what a bobcat sounds like, could have been that. The owner swears there are what he calls panthers on the land and sidearms are illegal during archery only season.
