Default Empty freezer!?

What to do?

Haven't had a doe present a shot in weeks, several young bucks have been strolling by without a care in the world.
Haven't seen mr big since the second week of gun season, only a couple of other definite shooters since then, no shots.

Freezer is empty, young bucks are getting tempting.

But I've been living by the "If you wouldn't shoot it on opening morning then don't shoot on the last morning" adage.

I'm not quite into a full on panic as I'm seeing more does recently, just not in range, plus the winds aren't allowing a good set up on the does.

I need some venison!!!

So brown it's down, or hold out for a big doe?

Happy Holidays

well if ya shoot the little guys, theyll never grow into the mature bucks (if thats what youre hunting for). I try and take does for venison but hey, do what you gotta do i guess

I've been hunting for 30 years, this year is the first year in the last 15 years that I went deerless

Yep, totally agree.
Normally have a doe or two by now, they just didn't cooperate during Oct, and I didn't see many at all.

I'm off until the 3rd, so I'm pretty confident I'll get a doe.
Our Otisco property hasn't been pressured much this season, everyone tagged out early.
I haven't hunted it at all, no mature buck sightings other than the one my nephew took during the youth hunt.
I'll probably spend 3 days out there.

The ironic thing about this season, the most days I've ever spent in the woods..

Any good deer tag recipes?
