Default Sick Day Buck Down

Had to pull the ole sick day since i was running out of time to tag a buck on Friday. I had this buck we refer to as "The Champ" approach me at about 30 yards at 4 oclock friday afternoon. I've been very familiar with this buck this year as i've had numerous encounters with him. He earned the nickname "The Champ" because he always trying to fight with other deer whenever we saw him. Even when we saw him spotting he was always sparring with other bucks or trying to run them out of the field. I last saw him two weeks ago and his rack was whole but sometime between then and friday it looks like he got in a real battle with another buck and busted his rack all to pieces. While skinning him i discovered his body was riddled with small puctures from antler tines. It was pretty cool to take down a warrior like that, although i wasnt particularly proud of the shot (i spined him) but a well placed second arrow ended things very quickly.

WOw. Good job! He went from a nice buck to BARELY LEGAL. I myself may have been a bit nervous shooting him wandering if he was legal? LOL at any rate Hell of a job and great job getting a second arrow in there in a hurry!

congrats. I too had to pull a sick day buck out of my hat on Friday. I guess that makes us blood brothers. Mine was a big old heavy 7 pt.
