Ok here goes, sat evening had a doe come into my stand and stopped at 20 yds broadside so I let one fly bolted into the woods I could hear her she didnt go far well about 10 mins later she came back ( i'm certain it was her becaus eshe had a small white patch on her left ear) so she milled around for a few minutes then walked out again and stopped to my right this time at 15 yrds thinking I missed the first shot I nocked another arrow and shot, this time she jumped and bucked and ran off. I waited about 15 minutes then climbed dow and got my arrows, to my suprise the first one was covered in blood (darkish) so I think it got her liver, the second has brighter blood not as much. SOrry for novel but my point after all this is, has anyone ever had a deer come back after being hit?

I went back sunday with a freind and one of his Dogs we found her about 75 yds away I heard coyotes while I was at the truck that night talking with my Father in law. I never seen a deer come right back to where they were shot before I I have seen them circle back but never come right back before.

So you recovered the deer and it had two holes in it? That is a little strange to shoot one and have it come right back in front of you, but it probably had no idea what had happened. Spooked deer often go back the way they came.

Where I am from you only can take one deer so I would have found my first arrow, verified it was a clean miss before letting another one fly at any deer. I owe it to the first animal I shot at and, I owe the other animals the same respect if I am hunting one tag.
I believe you can take multiple deer in NC so not the same concern but if it was a different deer, then you have the trouble of tracking two that were hit in the same proximity. I've done that before with someone else and that is not fun at all, brings lots of toilet paper.
Did you determine it was the same animal after recovery?

Yes, but the coyotes had gotten to her that night plus, the first arrow caught some gut looking at the wound the second got one lung I didnt skin her Im so dissapointed that I didnt find her that night. Ive seen deer circle back on the path they take but I had never seen or heard of them coming right back that fast.
