I hunt an oak stand most of the time and have them around alot. Gives me somthing to watch when it's slow and I keep a FP in my pocket in case they get too bad.

I saw one fall what must have been 25-30 feet and hit the ground with a thud! It was well above me and I hunt high in this particular stand. It jumped up on a tree a few feet, head down, and made an odd sound for several mins. Almost fell out of my stand laughing.

i seen one try and jump from a power line to a branch he probably fell 15 foot or so and almost hit me on the way down but he didn't make no weird noises

My motto is, if you can hear it, it aint a deer. This proves true at least 90% of the time especially when its early season and there arent and dried up leaves on the ground.

The red squirrels are what I hate. Those things are so dam noisy its unreal. They are always playing grab ass till about mid morning, then they will go back to bed or something. Sometimes its defining. I have even thought of getting a pellet pistol and start shooting them it gets so bad. You still have to be careful that the squirrels to pick you out. To many of them things around you can be bad. Sooner or later, one of them will see you. Then they freak out ant let the whole area know somethings not right. I don't mind the grey squirrels. You also have to watch out for the chipmunks. Those things are alway nervous and jurky....

I think you have supersonic hearing. I cant hear them at all.

Deer walking on dry leaves are just as loud and anything. When they're walking on wet leaves or across a picked field, they're quiet.

Early October I find them hard to hear. As the leaves fall...anyone can hear them coming.

Very true. But they do help get the adrenaline going when you hope it's a deer, or for a quick flash of movement when it's getting late or starting to doze off, see some movement and bam, wide awake again.
