Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

I know that his hunts and everything are staged, plus I would like to prove some other hunters who thinks Bill DOESNT hunt on Game farms/High Fenced Areas. It comes to a point where you need to stop the MADNESS of hunting tamed deer and go out wwith a Hand Crafted Long Bow and Hunt on an everyday persons land . . . Then lets see them Boys Slaughter These Boone n Crockett buck.
I MEAN COME ON commen sense [:@]
Anyone BAck me up????????

I can only comment on what I know as fact. The fact is that I' ve met Mr. Jordan and he has my respect. I know what he does/gives back to the sport and that some of his future plans reach further to benefit our sport than many of his peers.

I like watching his shows and I appreciate what he has done for the sport, both for new hunters and young hunters. Hopefully I' ll get to meet him in the future.

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

Although I admit to wondering about some of the " hunts" the Realtree boys and others do, Bill Jordan and others like him have done nothing but help us. Realistically, few hunters would watch a show every week or video that showed the " pros" shooting small bucks and does.

Its their game and how they make their living. Bill markets his camo shrewdly, and comes up with new camo every yr. Not sure I care much for some of the camo(I love Realtree Hardwoods), but Jordan and many others are living what many of us dream about. I am darn glad I have an Outdoor Channel to watch!

Brandon, if you were in Bill' s place......I imagine you would follow his example in a short period of time. Personally I would love to walk in his shoes.

I don' t know the man, but I enjoy the shows. Yes they pay to hunt some of the best places in the USA, but let' s be honest, he has to make money on his shows, and who would watch a video of him hunting in my backyard, watching someones dog walk by, hearing kids in the backround and maybe after a long season kill a couple of does, and maybe a decent buck? His shows are well done, and I enjoy them.

If you saw Bill Jordon shoot a 6 pt would you say " man would I dream of shooting a buck like that.? Its entertainment folks. Forget for a minute they may be hunting in a highly populated fenced preserve. Listen to the hunting and saftey tips. I enjoy all the hunting shows even though I realize i will probally never get those type of oppurtunities in my lifetime. These folks do alot of good with their venison for the hungry drives and such. I havent met Bill Jordon personally but from what ive heard he is a very respectable man devoted to the hunting sport.

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

I also have never met the man, but...I do know that on some occasions he, or Michael, or David will spend 12 to 14 hours a day, and up to seventeen days in a row in " Big Buck" country. Could I arrow a " Monster" if I put in that much time during the rut? Probably. I' ve read a great deal about him, and believe he doesn' t shoot tame deer. He does pay to hunt on private ranches that have large, free roaming deer herds. (Wish I could do that too. Only makes good sense.) A lot of hunters lease hunting land. I watch his shows and buy his videos and some of his camo. It' s Outdoor Entertainment. But like so many said, he has done a lot for the average hunter.

I' d love to share a blind with those real time boys.:D

Jealousy is such an ugly thing.[:' (]

I love the Monster Bucks Videos, don' t care where or how they hunt, they all seem like very nice people to me and I will continue to buy their products no matter what.

Point out a hunting series that doesn' t cheat somehow, Who cares just sit back and enjoy the nice bucks.

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

I have seen some of Bill' s shows and have wondered if they were staged. I am a meat and sport hunter so I don' t really know what to say. I guess I think it would be all right if the deer didn' t suffer much and no meat was wasted. though I do get mad when they call it a " hunt." [:@]

You know, Brandon, you might like one of Paul Brunner' s videos. He seems to hunt more like your style of hunting

I' ll tell you that I' ve never met him but I would love to meet him along with the rest of the Realtree guys. Their videos are great. I' d rather watch those giant fenced in bucks being shot then watch a little 6 pointer on public land being taken. It' s entertainment and you gotta love it. If I had the money I' d be going to all the places they go to also!

Maybe some people are mislead by the title " Monster Bucks" ;) This guy is in a buisness.....one that i would surely love to do. He could be doing alot worse.

If I had the money I' d be going to all the places they go to also!
BINGO!!! its all about the money....his shows/videos bring in money which allows him to hunt these properties that me and you could only dream about. What a living!!!

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

First of all why does it always have to be with a " real" bow, Last time I checked my compound was a " real" bow. I guess I get tired of the guys that use a long or recurve bow telling or hinting that they are better because they use a " real" bow.

But to get back to the question at hand, Yea I like his shows they are intertaining, and yea I am realistic, I know most of the hunts are on game farms, thats why you don' t see his name on giant crocket bucks. But I like to watch the big boys walking thru the woods.

And they wont hunt your " farm" if there was not large bucks to be shot, you don' t just walk in any woods and expect to shoot a large buck. If the land doesnt hold big ones, you cant just pull them out of the air. Now look what you made me go and do, I let the secret out[:@]:D.

I have to agree with the folks, that had I the financial resources to hunt the quality of deer Bill Jordan has access to, I would in a second. It' s entertaining and quite honestly, I purchase the set every July to get me pumped for the upcoming season....keep ' em coming realtime boys!!

For those of us who enjoy the series.

i have watch his shows also i watch for 5 differant weekends and seen him arrow a 12 pointer every time ???? its entertaining its better than watching soap opras. but i love hunting the hunting part is what i enjoy the most i never hunt with a guide because i am the one that duz not find game screws up my chances and makes my harvest if i used a guide that would take the part of hunting i love the most away. as far as bill hes just another guy doing it his way.

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

Three years ago at the August Nascar race in Michigan ( we have gone every year since I was in 8th grade and I am 38 now) I was walking through the merchandise trailer area and looked over at the realtree trailer and was looking at the real nice buck mounts that they had at each end, and all of a sudden I realized Bill was standing there. I walked up and we started talking hunting. He stood there and talked to me for about 35 minutes. We were swapping stories and he was genuinely interested in hearing about some of my successful hunts here in Ohio. He would stop me and ask me for more detail as I told the story, so I knew he was really listening and interested. Man he was the most down to earth and nicest guys I have ever talked to. I told him that my buddies would never believe that I swapped hunting stories with him, and he said well here you can prove it to them, and he whipped out a really nice picture of him and personalized it and signed it. He wrote " To my new pal Brett, thanks for some great conversation. Good luck in all your hunts. Your new friend, Bill jordan. We talked a few more minutes and then another guy with a walkie talkie told him they needed him down at Buckshot' s trailer ( Buckshot jones was driving the Realtree car that part of the season). He shook my hand and thanked me for some great stories, and then he reached over and grabbed a Monster Bucks T- shirt, signed it and told me that was for taking my time to share my hunts with him. I couldn' t believe it. When he left my wife said that is one of the coolest things that I have ever seen a guy in his position do. I liked him before that, but he made a fan for life here. He didn' t have to be that gracious at all. Great guy.

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

Its entertainment thats the bottom line. However it is hard to argue with what he has done for the hunting community.

Down to earth guy considering his position and celebrity status. He definately knows hunting and puts forth an effort. I like how he keeps to his standards, not shooting a deer just b/c of a kill on film, I have seen many shows where Bill or others went home with nothing. He shows missed shots, hits/reaction of the game, follow up reaction of the hunter, wait for the deer to expire (not rush), tracking, gives some advice(but not the law style), hunts different areas and game. He does do management buck shows, which shows the need to cull or advocate deer management(not all big buck harvests). While I find it to be a bit much on the realtree camo, I understand his need to market and sell himself and his patterns. Personally I don' t use or like his camo, but that doesn' t mean I don' t like him or his work. I feel in comparison to other shows he provides a good mix and enjoy watching(unlike JACKO).

I know for fact not all his hunts are in fenced operation, he states none are and all are fair chance(but he does frequent ranchs and I am sure they must have some sort of containment for their herd). Take it for what it is meant to be, just plain entertainment. Entertainment is not always realistic(actually rarely), look at movies, TV, sports...the list goes on. Anybody boycotting or complaining that the Charlie' s Angels are half dressed, crime fighting young women or the Terminator is back all good and blowing up everything in his way that is evil...hardly realistic but still many will watch and enjoy. (just an analogy to my point)

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

I think he is a really bright guy. He does what he likes and makes a living at it. Some people don' t like him because they say his stuff is staged or whatever. That does not matter one bit. That is his business and if that is the way he wants things to go then that is his decision to make. When you start making your own videos and make your own camo then you can do what you want. Don' t fault someone because they do something different than you would or you do now. If it is legal then I say more power to him, by the way he must be doing something right if everyone is buying his stuff and they are or he would go under quickly.

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

Just for the sheer enjoyment of watching big bucks and getting my blood pumping for the upcoming deer season, the realtree videos are great. I thank Bill Jordan for producing these videos for that reason.

On the other hand, high$ areas and ranches is not something I would enjoy. It' s just the best way to get footage. At least the advertising is not excessive.

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

I can' t say that I am for hunting so called caged deer but I will say that I respect what he has built in the Realtree business. I can also say that I wish everyday that I could do what he does for a living. I would also like to see him hunt where I have to hunt but then again you wants to watch a show where the hunter never gets anything really big. Big Bucks sell products and thats the idea.

Dalejbrass 07-10-2003 03:26 PM

RE: Bill Jordan, what do you think of him?

My father-in-law used to be the CEO of one of Bill Jordens many companies (Imersion Graphics), which is a company that has a patented " dipping" process for applying camo patterns on anything from Bows to four wheelers. I met Bill at a birthday party and talked with him for a couple of hours. Know this.....he is a BUSINESS man and business men are in the business of making money. He wears expense clothes, high dollar watches and was sporting a " trophy" on his arm (he had just divorced his wife). I must say " she" was one of his finest trophies he' s ever taken.
We all have pipe dreams of shooting monster bucks, don' t we? Unfortunately, most of us will never have the opportunity due our financial status. It takes money to hunt with the big boys. Maybe someday one of those monster bucks will stubble onto my side of the fence and I will introduce him to Mr. Montec and Mr. Gold Tip.
I say, if they have the money and the time to hunt the big high fence operations, then more power to them. I know I would.
Happy Hunting.
