Default First sets are in.

Finally got a day where it wasn't 100 degrees and the wife didn't have other plans for me. So off to the woods!

The first 2 stands are hung and now the anticipation really begins. While at the top of the first set-up what do I hear but the sweet sound of deer passing thru the brush not 10-15 yds away. Too thick to tell what they were, but it was enough to get the blood pumping again.

We're just over a month (37 days, not that I'm counting) away from our opener, how many have been out doing the same?

well we have most of our sets hung but i think we will be putting one in here soon. but we just put our fall plot in yesterday and brushed our blind in as well. we have it set up so we can hunt it on almost any wind, we put a set just inside the woods and cut a lane or two into the foodplot. but while we were in there we brushed in the ol' double bull... but while we were brushing the blind in, we needed a few white pine branches, i walked back to the pine thicket and cut a couple off, when i did i jumped a doe that was bedded out in the crp

Tats a great job brushing in that blind! I hung 4 of my 6 stands back in April, so I still need to get out and get the last 2 hung.

The blind looks great, meant to take pics but left the phone in the truck. There are 2 more that need to go up in the next couple weeks. Usually try to get them in at least 4 weeks in advance.

Just trimmed my last stand site tonight. I have to hang one more set that I know doesn't need trimmed. I have to set a blind in a few weeks, and then I just have late oats to plant around labor day. It's all downhill from here.

I have been hanging stands for the last couple of weeks myself on the cooler days. But Man! are the skeeters thick! Between them and the deer flys it's funny all the deer aren't standing out in the middle of open fields. With all the rain we have gotten this year the insect population is at an all time high. I sure hope it freeze's before the opener.............
