I got a real nice bow Hoyt APha Max 32
20yds no sweat...
However 30 yds different story..I tell ya what I'm doing and you all can maybe add somethings I can try..
Using a range finder I make sure the target was right at 30yds.
I shot many consistant groups to make sure the 30 yd pin was perfect..
Ok let's start shooting,,,
. I'm using a tru fire glove with fall away rest..
A. Load arrow...pull back
B.nocking point is touching the right of my mouth..
C. shoulders are drawing into togather...
D. only 2 finger lightly grasping the bow handle..
E. think on good things and try to relax
F I'm going from the top to the bottom when I come to the bull's eye I squeeze the trigger BULL'S EYE!! YES..
.... Next shot..close
...... next shot miss the target completely

........ next shot..near the bull's eye
......... next shot in 12 inches wide
How can I get more consistant.? Is this normal?

Glove or release? At first I thought you were shooting fingers, but below you mention a trigger.
I'm no expert, but my guess is if that's what you're doing then there's your probem.

My guess is your punching the trigger instead of appling pressure until it goes off. You also maybe finching your bow hand upon release. I can't get used to coming down on the target, I have to come up on it.

Hey I'm not too old to make changes..{ -;
I don't mind doing this but can one explain why it's better to come up then go down?
Also, I know one problem..this particuliar release does have a glitch..it's a bear paw type release and sometimes the bear paw hangs up on the the string loop .
I sincerely appreciate all the replies..I shot about 150 arrows this morning. After i lose 6 more pounds I plan to shoot from my Summit.
